This is by far the best WWII figure available from 21st century toys. I'm mesmerized by this figure's level of detail. For some reason the picture above shows the dress hat being far too small, but in actuality, it fits perfectly, and is much larger. There is some sewing required with the suspenders, because the hooks that fit to the belt will come loose if not sewn. The pipe was a great idea, and if you don't have the pipe in his mouth it looks like he's scowling. This one so far is the most durable of all my ultimate soldiers. I've been collecting the ultimate soldier since 1998, but this is the best one yet. Another little bonus, is the super soldier body, which allows him to look so natural. Why are you still reading this?! Just buy it!

I should start out by saying there are two models of this soldier. One with a normal hat and one with a small hat. The white hat I received in package was way too small, much like on the picture of this soldier. However, all one must do if you have a small hat is write the company to receive a new regular sized hat. It is well worth it.The officer's hat is what makes this guy so appealing. The pipe is difficult to have stay in place but still provides atmosphere in his hand or carried on his belt. His gun is a first for this line. His holster actually opens and closes to hold his walther pistol. The map case adds another new item to your collection. A good buy!

The first 21st Century 12" figure I got was the Panzer Commander. I was amazed at all of the gear he came with, the articulation of the body, the details in the uniform. 21st Century's Ultimate Soldier line is not quite up there with other brands such as Dragon and Sideshow, but very cool nonetheless. And the price is right.
21st Century's Ultimate Soldier figures are fully articulated, but very stiff. Poses are limited as compared with the above brands. But for the price, one can't really complain. This particular figure, the Monte Cassino one, is what this is all about so I will state my thoughts on this particular figure. All in all he's really cool. As someone else said, don't be scared off by Amazon's photo of the figure's freakishly small looking cap. The peaked officer's cap that comes with the figure fits just fine. No problems there. He comes with a helmet too, and it fits just fine as well. He has a lot of gear, the only thing that is a drawback is that the mess kit box has a plastic handle on it and it's flimsy. It falls off his belt easily if he's moved around. Same with the canteen. But if you're just going to display this guy, then you probably have no worries there. One of the neatest things about this figure (in my opinion anyway) was how he came with a pipe that you can either fit in his left hand (it fits very well) or in his mouth. His mouth has a place on the left hand side where the pipe can be inserted. They managed to do this without making the mouth look strange too! Again, it falls out easily if the figure is moved around, but if on display it should sit in there nicely. The pipe is also very small and could be easily lost, so you want to be careful there. His gear is pretty easy to put onto his belt. Being a collector of many 1/6th scale figures, I can tell you that sometimes belts can be a real issue. With this guy, it's really pretty easy. I don't see many little kids having the patience to assemble all this, but they'd probably have a parent willing to do that for them. It's a little tedious, but that's pretty much the way it goes with these historic type figures. All in all though, I got him put together in under 10- minutes. There is a good picture on the back of the box to use as a reference for how to put everything on. He looks very good all put together. All in all, like I said, for the price he's a fine figure. Well worth the price I got him for--18 dollars. If you like 1/6th scale figures, and are into WWII this guy's worth buying.
