3.0 out of 5 stars Highway Drivin' Music, May 30, 2005
This review is from: Ultimate Southern Rock (Audio CD)
Considering that this is an album of "Southern Rock" music it could have been a lot better. There are too many Lynyrd Skynyrd songs for one thing. No songs by 38 Special. The two Molly Hatchet songs are fillers, and who ever heard of Buzzin' Cousins. Still, there are some really great songs on this album that make it worth the purchase. Elvin Bishop's stuff is hard to find these days, as is Barefoot Jerry. Duane's Tune by the Dickey Betts Band is a rockin instrumental that you'll find yourself listening to over and over again. I bought this album because there were songs on it that are hard to find. If some thought and effort had been put into this project, it could have been one hell of an album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent compilation, but could do better., January 22, 2007

This is a pretty decent compilation, better than most. Get rid of the Ozark Mt. Deredevils and the John Melloncamp (gag!), add some Blackfeet and Doc Holiday- and you could really have a great album. For the best compilations- I would recommend Southern Rock Gold and This is Siouthern Rock!
