Format: Paperback
If you haven't read Ultimate Collection Vol 1, then read that first. I also wrote a review for it (Ultimate Spider-Man: Ultimate Collection, Vol. 1) If you have read Vol 1, then this is the next logical book to read. It contains two story arcs. The first is a Justin Hammer/Doc Ock/Kraven story, and the second is a Goblin story.

The first story was a little all over the place. It seemed stretched and it was hard to keep track of everything. Too many plots were tied together, or at least Bendis tried to tie them together, but couldn't really succeed. It is still a good addition to Ultimate Spider-man, and the story, though it started very slow, got really interesting as it went on. The interview seemed forced and unnecessary.

The second arc was much better. It features the return of the Goblin, but it does not go as one might expect. The story is interesting, fresh, surprising, and exciting. Both stories feature classic troubles for Parker.

Just like the first book, this one has excellent art. The characters look amazing and the colors are appealing. All the original covers are included, and some early sketches are in the back of the book.

All in all, this is a strong book that is worth buying, but it is not as good as Vol 1.

Enjoyed this second year collection from the start of the Parker Ultimate Spider man run. Nice nods to Spider man events from the main Marvel universe, but the energy of the volume certainly fits the age of the characters.

If you never read a comic about spider-man. It is probably one of the best choice for choosing this book as your beginning. In honest, the content is quite old. The action content is not intensive enough. The spider-man is not wrote as cool as enough. Big head small body. Just feel werid. On the other hand, it is simple enough to let you understand who and what is spider-man and his story. As developed with the computer technology, the picture has became much more dynamic and good looking. It is very important. Can you let a beginner to watch a classic amzing spider-man? I guess he will feel the picture is very "ugly". Can you tell a new reader Peter Paker maybe is dead? Some bad guys copied his DNA to make a new "Peter Parker"? I guess he can't accept it. And one more, this book is cheap! There is why I gave this book as 4 star.
