Lots of Great Ideas!,
By Julie Ramsey (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ultimate Start-Up Directory (Paperback)
If you are looking for great business start up ideas, then this book is for you. Having been recently layed off from my job I decided that perhaps it was time to start my own business, and secure my future. Like most I did not know where to start. Having purchased this book gave me some great ideas for businesses that I can start, and I am currently narrowing the field. I found the book easy to read, full of great information that can be applied to almost any persons situation, and most importantly a great resource and inspiration tool, especially for someone like me with limited business exsperience. A must have for anyone thinking about starting a business!

Simply the best book I have ever read about starting a business. No get rich quick scams, no "look inside yourself" motivational hype, just great ideas to get you making money by working for yourself.

A practical guide to business ideas,
By Wendy Bly (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ultimate Start-Up Directory (Paperback)
This book is easy and fun to read and packed with tons of great ideas. In the past I have purchased other books similar in topic and was always disappointed by the fact that the authors seemed to point out the obvious and went out of their way to constantly tell readers what they must know in order to succeed, over and over, and over...I find this to be subjective at best and at worst mind numbingly boring to read. I was relieved to discover this book was different, the author simply features a ton of ways you can make money working for yourself in a quick read format. I'm working with a few of the ideas in greater detail and have found the information to be spot on the money and well researched. I highly recomend this book to anyone who wants to get out of the job frame of mind and start making more money by using a few simple ideas.

Success Story!,
By Cory Ellis (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ultimate Start-Up Directory (Paperback)
Just thought I'd share a very positive experience. I purchased Mr. Stephenson's book before Christmas thinking that I might be able to find a part time business that I could start with a minimal investment, and I did. In February I started a Graffiti Removal Service that was featured in the book and I already have over two dozen repeat customers and growing! Not bad for 4 months and a part time effort. I highly recomend this book to anyone that is thinking about starting their own business. Great book, great idea's and great advice.

This book is like sitting down with an experienced business man going, "I have little to none for start up costs. Can you give me suggestionS?" And then he goes off and explains a ton of ideas! Not just the subject, but giving you details to think about!
I liked it a lot.

This book is really informative!,
By jack peters (Los Angeles, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ultimate Start-Up Directory (Paperback)
For the past two years I have been thinking about starting a business, and have purchased numerous books about the various businesses that can be started. However, not until I purchased this book did I even realize that there are 1350 businesses that can be started. I found the information in the book to be valuable, easy to understand and very straightforward. What I like most was the fact that the book covers so many industries and the opportunities for starting a business within those industries. Because of this I have been able to narrow down the choices that interest me, and that suit my skills. Without question this is the best book I have found about business start up ideas.

If You Like Wasting Money Buy This Book,
By
This review is from: Ultimate Start-Up Directory (Paperback)
This book is nothing more than a chaotic brainstorm session with no pertinent information at all. You could save yourself time with a pen and some paper and a group of friends because thats all this author did. Book doesnt SHOW you how to start up any of the ideas it just lists them. It also has a plethora of grammatical errors and is almost as if the editor didn't even bother to read it before sending it to the presses. It is a complete waste of time and not worth the ninety cents it costs to buy it used.

A couple years too late,
This review is from: Ultimate Start-Up Directory (Paperback)
This is a great book for someone looking for ideas for a new business. I'm planning on starting a new business in the next year and need a good idea so I can start the research and put together a business plan. I found 10+ possible ideas in the book. The only problem is that when I started doing the research for some of the businesses I found out that many of them were great ideas about 5 years ago. Many of the business ideas from the book are being franchised out.
I would recommend getting this book to get some more ideas about a business start up and then go from there. While I was researching an idea in the book, I found out about another opportunity and I'm now working on a business plan for that idea. This is a great place to start if you want to start a business of your own, but don't have an idea of what you want to start that business in. This is not a book to tell you how to start a business or how to write a business plan.

Great new business 'ideas' source,
By
This review is from: Ultimate Start-Up Directory (Paperback)
As a very preliminary 'ideas' book this is great, do not expect too much 'scope' behind the idea, it is really just something to get you thinking and motivated to get off the couch, stop moaning about your own job and go start yourown business!

Lots of Ideas, Lots of Repeats, Lots of Errors,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

There are indeed a lot of ideas in this book - but there are also a lot of repeats, the same concept showing up in different categories. There were a lot of typos, and there was a lot of outdated information, as well. Some listings had useful information, while others just described a concept. It was as if the author and all his friends sat down and brainstormed ideas, and then he fleshed out the ones he knew something about. And nobody bothered to run the spell-checker! The icons for cost made no sense - why would a drop-ship online business have more expense than an on-the-ground retail version of the same business that required buying merchandise?
If you are looking for an overview of potential directions and types of businesses you could start, this is a good book to kick-start your thinking. If you are looking for an overview that actually provides some information about where to go for more information on how to get started, this only does that for about 30% of the listings. Just don't count on the stars (potential) and $$ (cost icons) because they don't seem to be realistic. |
