This is a GREAT way to pass the time on a long car trip or over a summer of smaller trips. My son spent hours watching for license plates to complete the map inside. It's a simple book, just a thin activity book that comes with stickers of the 50 license plates and a spot on each state to stick them when you've seen one. It was the best few bucks I've spent in a long time.

My 9 and 10 year old had fun with this book on a long road trip. Great puzzles. The license plate shaped stickers were just right to play the License Plate game. I sort of wish I had my own book to record the plates I saw. I plan on giving this book as a gift to friends who embark on a driving vacation. I'll buy them again for another road trip.

My 8 year old son found this book fun & entertaining on our recent 2000 mile road trip. (He almost found all the state licenses)

Three of us, between the ages of mid-fifties and early seventies, took a road trip to Washington, D.C. We had a blast filling up the states map with license plate stickers. Even older folks get bored! Fantastic for any age group.

I bought this for my 11 year old daughter for our two months spent in USA. She really enjoyed looking for license plates and filling in the map in the center of the book with the stickers provided. (See the photo I uploaded.) It became a family project as time went on. When we saw Alaska, we all screamed in joy! The poor owner of the car. We probably scared her. I rolled down my window and told her we were collecting license plates.

My daughter also said the puzzles were entertaining. I was happy that the games were reinforcing some state facts and geography.

We bought our 8 and 10 year old girls these books the past three years and they love them. Having to find license plates for all the states is quite a challenge and thus occupies much of their time in the car during our travels. We just went 200 miles out of town this weekend and they found 30 states already. We give them an extra incentive by offering them $20 if they can find all the states except Hawaii, and another bonus of $20 for Hawaii. They get 40+ states every year, but I have yet to pay out any bonuses :-). Because of the money, we require that an adult verify the license plates before they can add the sticker or every oncoming car would be the elusive Delaware, Washington DC, or Hawaii. At campgrounds, my daughter takes a camera around and takes pictures of missing states. It's quite the fun, family game.

About the only complaint I hear is that the books do not have Canadian or Mexican provinces/states like some other license plate books we've had in the past. We live close to Canada and see all of the provinces regularly, so it would be great if they added them to the book.

This made a long car ride much more fun! The kids really loved tracking this.

My 4 year old grandson developed a fascination with car license plates which has expanded to include an interest in the location of the states. I do not live near my grandchildren but I like to try to be part of their lives so when I heard of his new interest I wanted to participate. This book was perfect. From all reports it was a big hit.

My children are younger so we only did the license plate match up, but they had a ball and still point out different license plates now after the vacation is over. There are stickers to put on the map so that made my 7 yr old happy.

Agree with the others. Purchased for recent road trip out west. Purchased one for each child. One kept track of the states we drove through and the other kept track of license plates we saw. It was a lifesaver: each time the kids started getting cranky, I could slow down to let people pass and say "hey, what's that license plate?" It's amazing how many people pass you when you go 5 mph under the speed limit. The point is that the books did just what I hoped: gave us a family game to play while in the car, made us feel part of a team working together, and gave some discussion other than "quit touching me!". We also found the Magic Tree House audiobooks to be helpful, as well as other Backseat Books. The only drawback is that there are a great many license plate designs per state, so the pictures of license plates don't necessarily match what you see. No big problem, though, as it helped my kids with spelling.
