About the Author

Dr. Frances A. Karnes is Professor of Special Education and, for the past 20 years, has served as Director of the Center for Gifted Studies at the University of Southern Mississippi. For the past 16 years, she has also served as Director of the Leadership Program at USM. She is widely known for her research, publication, innovative program developments, and service activities in gifted education and leadership training.

Dr. Kristen R. Stephens is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Gifted Education in the Department of Counseling, Special Education, and Child Development at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She received her Ph.D. in special education with an emphasis in gifted education at The University of Southern Mississippi.
