This kit is no joke!
JG
Case is extremely tough, the one handed striker is very easy to use and the fire starters work quite well.

This is not a complete survival kit, but it contains several of the highest quality survival gizmos in one compact kit.

First for signaling we have just about the best mirror out there, and a top notch whistle.

Next for firestarting we have the BlastMatch, which is renowned for putting out a serious array of sparks and being able to start a fire better than any other "flint" style tool. It's also one where you don't need a knife. One thing- the instructions are often printed tiny and aren't all that easy to understand. So, try this out a few times before you set off. It comes with 2 WetFire Tinder Cubes, which are great, but for practice you'll need more.

Finally there's the SaberCut Saw, likely the best compact survival saw on the market. This can be used outside of survival situations, just to gather firewood, etc.

So this kit handles signaling, firestarting and woodcutting really well. But no shelter, no knife and of course no food, etc. Unlike some "pocket kits" this one is fine for deep outback trips, it has quality tools that can be used outside of just a "lost in the wilderness" situation.

Something to make tea in (or whatever your choice of hot beverage is) with a couple tea bags and some sugar packets are a nice thing to have. Before you panic, it's an excellent idea to STOP! sit down, and make a cuppa.

Thus, if you supplement this with a good knife, a survival blanket or bivvie with some paracord, a small 1st aid kit and of course some food and water, it's an excellent kit .

As a stand alone survival kit this kit leaves a lot to be wanted, but if you are going to get some of the pieces of this kit to supplement another kit then I recommend this. All the pieces in the kit including the case are of great quality. All the materials are durable and the saw even comes in shrink wrap to keep it compact. Each piece by itself is a valuable addition. The case is just large enough to hold the items in it, so if you intend on making a kit you will have to get another case or remove some of the things from this one.

The kit has just a few essentials, but they are well made and thought out.
The sabre saw is far superior to other models I have seen and can easily be resharpened.
The firestarter is water proof and starts up every time, the included flint also is easy to use and makes a mass of sparks.

I very much recommend this Kit for its compact size, ruggedness and over all build quality.

I bought this to replace two of those cheap, flimsy, kits my wife and I had in our cars. This kit is no joke! I went through and tested each item and they are built to last and do the job. I particularly like the fact you can use the sparky one handed. The saw isn't some cheap wire, its a full blown chainsaw blade! The mirror is thick and solid with a center aiming point that works. I'm very happy with the Ultimate Survival Kit!

I'd just like to say that I've tried out all but the flexible saw and so far am quite pleased with the quality of it. The whistle is as loud as it claims to be--but don't think it isn't loud when you have your ears plugged, it sounds almost normal volume until you (meaning me) make the mistake of unplugging your ears while blowing on it.
The ONLY downside is repacking. Trying to get that flexible saw to fold back to its smallest form is a bastard, but that's something that I managed to do with only 10 minutes of folding and refolding with a few choice words. Not enough of a problem to deduct a star though. I highly recommend.

EDIT: I recently discovered that you can save space in this kit by unwrapping the tinder cubes and putting them together in the small plastic bag that the starflash mirror comes in, because the cubes are a lot smaller than the puffed up package indicates (although the cubes are still great). That saved me about..2 sq inches of space I'd wager, which is quite a lot of space when you consider the size of the case. I also got a chance to use the flexible saw. I worked a sweat up trying to saw a log in half, but I did it. It cuts very quickly and...well, easily once you get the hang of it. It starts out a bit difficult, because if you lose your rhythm or speed for even a second, it will start snagging. It's great quality though, I just recommend practice.
