Ultimate Rip-Off,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Ultimate Swingers Guide (Paperback)
I am not affiliated with any organization. I recently decided to take the step of discussing this topic with my wife.I picked up two books. "Considering Swinging" by Ed and Dana Allen, which costs [$$$]and the "Ultimate Swingers Guide" which costs over three times as much. It appears to me that this little book flew off the author's word processor. She then bound it and had some people write good reviews here to cause sales at a very high price. If one were to have handed this work in as a college paper, it might get a C+, but as something to pay [$$$] on Amazon, it deserves a resounding "F." It is full of typos. There are exclamation points sprinkled indiscriminately throughout (which again shows signs of it being a first draft). It is poorly organized. There are lots of "rules" interspersed with other statements which are supposed by exciting--because the exclamation marks or CAPITAL LETTERS or bold type tell you so. If something is well written, the text should generally create its own excitement. It is supposed to be something to turn someone on to swinging, but on page 10 and 11 the author tells guys what NOT to tell their partners. Not bad advice, perhaps, but would any man with half a brain dare give this book to his partner after he had read it and followed the author's advice? One thing I thought particularly strange, is on page 31 of this 59-page, large print book, the author tells you how to host your own party. This seems inappropriate in an introductory guide. The Ultimate Swingers Guide--there is no apostraphe in the Title, the author did not even proof read that--has no begining, no middle and no end. It does not flow. It is not enjoyable to read. To the extent there is a style, the author comes across as sometimes flaky and sometimes a scold. If you want to buy a small, introductory guide that is enjoyable to read and might actually pique someone else's interest, spend five bucks and buy the much better product, "Considering Swinging" by Ed and Dana Allen. Don't let Ms. Minell trade on her name and get away with scooping up some easy money with such a poor product.

It even answered questions I never would have known to ask! Thanks Tia, for helping all us curious but confused people that have always wanted to know about swinging. We went to our first party and had an amazing time!

very trite, uninteresting, no knowledge to be gained,

Beware. This is not a book, but a mere phamlet that talks about nothing more than common sence concerning basic manners. It is very short, and contains writing on only one side of the page. One would be better off reading a basic primer on social behavior at a dinner party. There was nothing interesting to be learned, and it was very boring. You could finish reading it in 15 minutes. It certainly was not worth the Price. I returned my copy for a refund. What would have made the phamlet interesting would have been to talk about couples first encounters at a couples club or house party, and to discuss the various emotions and interplay between couples. There should have been examples of discussions between couples of what to expect from the swinging life style, and to relate some of their actual experiences both good and bad. In summary - forget about it.

Poor Advice In A Small Package,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Ultimate Swingers Guide (Paperback)
This booklet gives a shallow and distorted view of the swinging lifestyle that lacks any sense of camaraderie or feeling of warmth. Too many silly rules; too little insight.

Transformed my sex-life!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Ultimate Swingers Guide (Paperback)
This book really kept me from making a fool out of myself. I had heard of swinging, but really didn't know anything about it. This book showed me how most of my preconvieved notions were generally wrong and gave me the courage and instruction I needed to enter the swing world. It is very entertaining to read, gets very honest and explicite, and makes me realize how right my instincts were to want to try swinging. And, it also provides a list of all the different swing locations in the United States and other swing publications and groups. A very short book, yet told me everything I needed to know. A whole new way of life has opened up to me and my partner - different friends and social activities. I wish I had seen Tia's book years ago. After reading this book people will aspire to be swingers, and realize how 'normal' they are compared to the repressed rest of us. GREAT BOOK.

You can get most of the information in this book FREE from the WEB or in any quality swingers mag. The use of the word UTLIMATE is a JOKE. Very basic but a short read.

Finally! A book that helps couples take the first step!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Ultimate Swingers Guide (Paperback)
I read this book in hopes of getting some insight as to how to get my wife to take our fantasies to reality. After reading it, I applied the suggestions Tia made and that was it! We have been to 2 swing parties already and I must say...rality is MUCH better than fantasy! FYI...I also visited Tia's website and found some great links.

I was surprised at that one negative review. I had been searching for a book that could give me some insight as the the swing world. Couldn't find anything until now. It may not be an encyclopedia but it has ALOT of information about how the lifestyle works from the insiders point of view. Thanks Tia.

This book helped ease my wife into the swinging lifestyle by addressing the fears that she had prior to taking the plunge. Once the emotional issues were understood, my wife went from being a relative prude to making home movies with her boyfriend. A lot of fun has been had by all!
