This book teaches about finding a "treasure". The treasure is people who are found randomly through clues in the area of the church where the games begins. This book is distrubing as people become pieces in a game called treasure hunting. The clues are sought through sessions labelled group prayer meetings. The book is an instruction manual to play the game and find...

Our church has started doing regular "treasure hunts" & we bring our kids along! What amazing testimonies come from this simple evangelism technique! It is easy to read, the technique is simple, but the impact is monumental. I would recommend this book to any Christian, especially the ones who are HUNGRY for more! Kevin Dedmon lays out simple guidelines, and backs them all up with scripture. Can't say enough about this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Changed the way our church does evangelism, February 1, 2009
This review is from: The Ultimate Treasure Hunt: A Guide to Supernatural Evangelism Through Supernatural Encounters (Paperback)
Shortly after several of the pastors of my church read this book we did our very own 'Treasure Hunt.' There were a good number of participants that were skeptical. They weren't skeptical after the treasure hunt ended and we had seen several people's lives touched by the power and goodness of the Father.

I read this book about a year ago, but picked up another copy at the Bethel Healing School in Valparaiso Indiana at which Kevin was a keynote speaker. Part of the school was a large scale treasure hunt with all 450+ participants of the conference hitting the streets for a couple hours. The results? Awesome. God's goodness came in powerful ways including healings:

1. A man's wrist was healed from a repetitive stress injury that caused him incredible pain. (Witnessed by a family member of mine who was also at the conference).
2. A woman's tongue was healed from a tumor
3. Two teenagers had all the pain in their broken bones taken away
4. A man with a tumor behind his eye healed. He was then given a vision test and found that he could now see better than before he hag gotten the tumor! (This healing was witnessed by a great number of pastors and leaders at the Q&A after the conference).

Kevin carries an equipping anointing for turning people towards a life pursuing God's Treasures. This book teaches you how to listen for and hear God, and how to act on what He speaks. It has changed the way our church does evangelism, and has had a profound impact on me as a person.

A relatively quick read, but well worth your time, THE ULTIMATE TREASURE HUNT is one of the best books I've ever read on evangelism. I can heartily recommend it to anyone who want's to learn to partner with the Holy Spirit to reach those desperate for a touch from the Father.

5.0 out of 5 stars treasure, December 16, 2007
This review is from: The Ultimate Treasure Hunt: A Guide to Supernatural Evangelism Through Supernatural Encounters (Paperback)
Great book about how God wants us to go out into the world and bring the lost into His Kingdom. God wants everyone to be saved. God's treasure is His people. He wants us to hunt down the lost for Him.

Recommend to all that through evangelism, want to bring the lost to Christ.

5.0 out of 5 stars Evangelism Made Exciting and Truly Doable!, May 24, 2010

This review is from: The Ultimate Treasure Hunt: A Guide to Supernatural Evangelism Through Supernatural Encounters (Paperback)
I got this book after my sister shared with me her own experiences of doing the Treasure Hunt and then inviting me to go on one as well. I've always loved treasure hunts and have created many for my kids, nephews, nieces and others - even for adults, so the concept of combining something I love creating and participating in WITH GOD was a perfect match for me. No matter where you are in your walk with the Lord, this book IS for YOU. Like public speaking, evangelism can be a frightening idea for many Christians, yet we all know we are to do this. This book guides you into an outright fun way to do it. If you desire to hear (more) from God, receive words of knowledge (or learn what that even is), share the good news of God's love for an individual and His personal caring, as well as open yourself up to seeing His healing hand/miracles, this book can motivate, equip, empower and encourage you to do just that. This is a fantastic evangelism tool for churches and small groups! If you truly want to work past your intimidation of reaching out, this is a great and fun way to do it. Bring your kids along, too, as they sometimes have insight that we adults don't. God can and will use them for evangelism. God is smiling already at you for even considering stepping out to find His treasures. And remember - He is going with you. You're not alone.

One of my personal Treasure Hunting experiences - Upon leaving a church service located in the mall, I asked God if there was someone He wanted me to find. He quickly answered with, 'Yes'. (Of course He said, Yes!) He told me to find a woman wearing purple in the food court. Since it was only 10:30 am on Sunday, the mall stores and food court weren't even open yet and wouldn't for another hour to an hour and a half!! There was hardly anyone even in the mall. The whole while walking to the food court (quite a distance) I'm asking God what I should do if no one is there. No one would be because it wasn't even open yet! I passed, at most 3 people the whole distance. So I finally reach the food court and sure enough, there isn't a single person there - I mean NO ONE. Every seat was empty and no one was walking around. I finally pass the center deli and pass a couple walking down the hall (woman was wearing white) and continue looking on the other side of this deli to try to find SOMEone, ANYone - but it is totally empty when it hits me. The woman I just passed has a purple shirt under her white sweater! I turn and ask God if this is the one. (I heard the 'Spirit of Stupid'.) :-) Anyway, I knew she was the one. So I turned around and slowly began walking apprehensively in their direction, slowly picking up speed as the confidence just began to overtake me until I wanted to run to catch her because I knew this was the Treasure! By the time I finally caught up to her, we were almost back to the church. I started off with the recommendation in the book of, "You are probably going to think this is really weird, but....." Anyway, I told her God wanted me to find a woman wearing purple at the food court and that God wanted me to tell her that God saw her as royalty. Purple is the color representing royalty. The look on her face and the conversation that followed was truly of God. They hadn't gone to church in a very long time and were recently considering trying to find a church. Her husband(?) said he was even a pastor (or something like that), but clearly they had fallen away from God. I believe this was God-ordained and that it was a much needed seed to encourage them that God is reaching for them waiting for them to return. They asked about the church which was just a few feet away (and was starting their next service in about 10 minutes). I prayed with them that God would lead them to the church HE wanted them to attend and said good-bye. I then left, got to my car, and the song that was playing when I started it was 'Majesty'. God gave me the confirmation that I heard and responded as He wanted me to.

One more comment about the book - It points out, and I believe totally correctly so, that even if we heard incorrectly, God honors our willingness to step out for Him!!!!!!! He will never stop teaching us. He wants us to hear from Him and wants us to know we heard correctly - thus the confirmations.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is a treasure, December 25, 2008
This review is from: The Ultimate Treasure Hunt: A Guide to Supernatural Evangelism Through Supernatural Encounters (Paperback)
I've felt a desire inside to witness to people, but I don't like how I've seen it typically done. We've seen them, standing on the corners preaching to bypassers. I love how the author calls this like cold calling. There has to be a better way!

Good news is... there is! This book comes at it from a different direction that is both fresh and inspiring. Spend a few minutes to ask God for words. Then writing them down into different catagories such as, names, location, appearance, etc... Then you go off and follow the clues looking for treasure.

There are many stories of successful treasure hunts found in this book. The stories often made my eyes water up and praise the Lord. For God is always good, and always in a good mood! I really liked the story of Ralph with the cigar and his wife. You'll have to read to find out more, I don't want to spoil it!

You can certainly tell Mr. Dedmon is from Bethel. If you are familiar with Bethel at all then you will see familiar things. Not to say this book isn't original, for there are many nugets of wisdom to be found within.

Many great things are coming out of Bethel, and The Ultimate Treasure Hunt by Kevin Dedmon deserves it's spot with them. I highly recommend this book. I finished it in 4 days, which is incredibly fast for me. I just couldn't stop reading. It will stir you up and inspire you to get out there and do your own treasure hunt. It certainly has lit the fire within me!

Join the treasure hunt. There is gold out there that God is just waiting to lead you to!

We have done these sort of evangelistic encounters before but wanted to understand the whole story behind the Ultimate Treasure Hunt. The stories in the book not only helped us equip others but encouraged us as as we enbarked on this unique and fun approach to finding the lost and the blind and inviting them to the wedding banquet of the Lamb. It isn't a gimmick, just a new way of looking at others and even yourself in Christ. We are His treasures. We too were lost and have been found.

The guidelines explained in this book are very simple that even children can use them. We took a group out and explained to them the basic premise and set our on our way. Along with various testimonies, we prayed for a woman who had knee pain and walked with a limp and a cane. After we prayed, she said she was healed and didn't need the cane anymore, walking away with it in her arms and absolutely no limp. The book even shows you that once you learn to look for treasures, you don't need the clues and the map and so forth. It is a technique that builds faith on both ends and engages people in God's will - which is to draw all men to himself.

I believe this book not only can equip you to lead others into a new way to evangelize, but can also help you to hear from God and make evengelism a part of your lifestyle. The theme of the Treasure Hunt is just a unique way of looking at finding those God values and facilitates a friendly approach to help usher them into the kingdom. Ultimately, it is God who does the cleaning, but it is his command to us to do the catching.

This is an absolutely divinely inspired method to reaching the lost. I can't think of a greater way to express the Father's love for a pre-Christian other than showing to them that he/she is actually lost treasure! This tosses you into the kingdom with the proper grace and son/daughtership mindset that is necessary for effectiveness in the kingdom.

Upon reading the first couple of chapters I was struck with conviction. I realized that I did not value the lost like God does. I did not see them as a valuable coin to be searched after and celebrated when found like the woman of Jesus' parable. This book helped radically change my thoughts, and now I see pre-Christians as pieces of gold.

Thanks Kevin and Bethel Church! Good Bless you, and pray for the salvation of Appalachian State University!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth your time and Money, October 20, 2008
This review is from: The Ultimate Treasure Hunt: A Guide to Supernatural Evangelism Through Supernatural Encounters (Paperback)
This book is a prectical way to begin doing what God has tasked us with while helping to build our own faith in the process. I really think we "the Church" are not more active being representative's on this earth because we still have unspoken doubt that needs to be dealt with. This is an awesome way to break out of our "Christian" molds and get involved in the real ministry, the ministry of reconciliation! Restoring our own Faith as well as others in God!

Kevin, thank you for sharing the creative ways that God uses you to reach the hidden treasure. My friend and I both bought the book, and we attempted a hunt today. We were truly amazed!!! We prayed for several people, and we were not rejected once...that was the Grace of God!!! We can hardly wait to hunt again. I highly encourage everyone to buy a copy of this book and put it into practice...you will love it!!!!
