A great disappointment,

This review is from: Ultimate Trek - Star Trek's Greatest Moments [VHS] (VHS Tape)
What bills itself as "Star Trek's Greatest Momements" (which, at 43 minutes wouldn't seem to do the subject justice) turns out to be about 15 minutes of Star Trek, in snippets no longer than about 20 seconds each, and 28 minutes of filler, mostly Jason Alexander and two others, dressed as Kirk, Spock and Bones, all engaged in some inane excuse of a plot.I should have known from the 43 minute running time, but it looks like this was originally made as a 1-hour television special. It is being released on video probably because even the television execs, with their ultra-low standards, realized that Ultimate Trek was nothing of the sort. You would be much better off buying *any* star trek episode or movie than watching this tape.

Negative 5 stars - The most awful Trek tribute ever,

This was the absolute worst "tribute" show I have ever seen, Trek or non-Trek. Jason Alexander, et al, who were supposed to be giving this tribute gave the worst impressions of Kirk, Spock and Bones. They were really bad. The so-called clips were 5 seconds for the longest, and just zipped by so fast you could hardly see them, much less tell what episode or movie they came from. I am just glad that if I had to sit through this I did when it was on TV so that I didn't have to pay anything extra for it. They should pay you to take it off their hands.

The video is a good collection of some of the best scenes from the past 3 decades. Jason Alexander does a good job. The guy who plays McCoy is kinda weak. Spock is OK.All in all a good video to RENT, if it's available. Else, ask for it as a gift, like I did. ;-)

Not Necessarily the Greatest Moments - but some good ones!,

Caveat: this opinion is from a TOS-only devotee. One must view this with tongue firmly in cheek for the recreated trinity moments, but with gusto for the film clips and bloopers. Especially noteworthy for its affectionate and well-deserved tribute to DeForest Kelley (the only one I saw - shame on you Oscar!).

The only really good things on this tape were the bloopers section, which was all too short, the tribute to DeForrest Kelly, and finding out what the most popular Trek episode was (apparently voted upon on the internet in late 1999). The sections with Jason Alexander and two people supposed to be Spock and Bones were just plain stupid, I would fast forward through them if I were you. I wish the Trek people would come out with a bloopers tape...now that I would definately pay anywhere from $15 to $30 for, depending on how long it was. At any rate, I would suggest that you buy this if you are big fans of Star Trek, and to hopefully show the Trek people that they need to start making more documentaries like this (except perhaps ones that are hosted by someone who is actually funny and have more bloopers!)

Star Trek may have some great moments, unfortunatly few make it into this video...and Jason Alexander's commentary through this dog makes it painful to get to those few scenes. I am so bummed I laid down cash for this thing. UUUUGGGGHHHHH. Don't buy it!! Buy City on the Edge of Forever (TOS), or the Best of Both Worlds I @ II (TNG), or even a William Shatner novel, but not this.
