4.0 out of 5 stars Great, even without full recordings...
Sure, it may not have the Haydn, but it DOES have Maurice playing the last movement of the Tomasi, and this disc will continue to be very popular until the entire French concerto album is released on disc. I was about to buy this cd but when I looked through the tracks, there wasn't Haydn's trumpet concerto. Come on people, it can't be the ultimate trumpet collection if Haydn's concerto, which is quintessential for every trumpet player, isn't on the cd.

However, it is a bit of a cop-out to have a compilation of only movements, considering that his Erato recordings are unique and quite good (and since DG and EMI have released very popular compilations of his recordings). The performances are excellent, but it is a little annoying to not get entire works, and that's the reason for only four stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars It is the UlTIMATE, October 11, 2000

Maurice has the best tone quality ever! Any trumpet player around the world can tell it is him playing. He is simply the best there is. I would recommend this cd to anyone who wants to listen to the best trumpet player in the world! All of Muarice Andre's cd's are great anyway, so you can't go wrong with this one.

This CD is great when your looking for a good music selection without burning a new cd or swapping disks. Maurice Andre is one of the best trumpet players ever and this CD does not disapoint!
