A pure blast, November 15, 2009
This review is from: Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk (Hardcover)
Wolverine and the Hulk have been at odds since, well, since Wolverine first started appearing in comics, making his debut in the old Incredible Hulk series back in the 70s. Well, even in the Ultimate universe, some things just never change. The often delayed Ultimate Wolverine VS Hulk is finally here in a collected format, and is a wild, audacious blast from beginning to end. Honestly, who would have ever thought that we'd see Wolvie get ripped in two and still live to take on the Green Goliath? Written by Lost alum Damon Lindelof and wonderfully drawn by Secret Invasion artist Leinil Yu, Ultimate Wolverine VS Hulk is ridiculous to its core (an exchange between Wolvie and Nick Fury has to be seen to be believed), and it's all the more enjoyable for it regardless.

Adamantium Laced bones, joints thats another story, March 21, 2010
This review is from: Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk (Hardcover)
Good story, great art and good action however. There could have been more added to it, in terms of the fight, Wolverine is taking on the Hulk and one could argue that every thing happened so fast and there was no time to react, but it would have been nice to see Wolverine do what he is best at, and now we know that his joints are not Adamantium laced.
The story does go back and forth before it gets back to the main event, but the dialogue had me laughing so I didn't mind the build up process. If your hoping to find a great fight between Wolverine and the Hulk you might be disappointed where Wolvie is concerned but the dialogue and the art makes up for that.

Very Bad, January 28, 2010
This review is from: Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk (Hardcover)
After being pleasantly surprised by Ultimate Origins, I began looking forward to this book. Ultimate Origins was o.k. but I was hoping for more action. Normally I don't prefer this, but all I really wanted some good ol' claws to the wall action. I was hoping for a good story but would've of been perfectly entertained just watching the Hulk and Wolverine duke it out. Don't get me wrong, story is very important but I was willing to make an exception in this case, but even that wasn't enough to like this comic.
Before I even get into the story I'll have to warn you that Wolverine does not actually make contact with the hulk once in the entire story. Not one slash, kick, punch, stab, or bite. Nothing. The whole of the action seems to rest on the single fact that the Hulk rips Wolverine in half. I don't consider this a spoiler because it's on the front, and even says so on the back. In fact, there's at least a panel of it in 4 out of the 6 issues! In 3 of those there's multiple panels and pages of it.
O.k the story. I don't even know where to start and neither does this comic apparently. It jumps forward and backwards and sideways and in and out, all for no real purpose. I'm a huge fan of the Ultimate universe and got to see Wolverine completely reduced to a mindless murderer. If this story took place before any of the Ultimate Xmen, then that might make some sense. Instead he's on a killing mission for no other reason other than it being "fun". Plus he continues to go after the Hulk even after Fury seriously wrongs him??? I won't say what he does but I will say that I've never seen anything like it in all my 15 years of reading Wolverine Comics. There is a definite reason for this.
So the good. I gave it 2 stars because I really liked the artwork and some of the dialog made me laugh. The art really was fantastic and I hope more comics pay attention to this.
All in all you'd be better just looking at the covers to each of these comics in order. They look great, show really cool action, and make a lot more sense than the actual comic.
