3.0 out of 5 stars Not the Ultimate jig book, October 27, 2009
This review is from: The Ultimate Woodshop Jig Book (Paperback)
This book includes jigs for the table saw, drill press, radial arm saw, lathe, the band saw, disc sander, belt sander and the router. This particular book of R.J. Decristoforo is from 1999 and includes 27 projects that are good and simple in design, but they are not the ultimate. I have to say that there are better books on jigs available today because they use more stable and modern materials such as hard plastics and aluminum for example. The jigs on this book do work and can be built, but for me, they lack the 'flexibilty' of modern designs, for example, the jig for the finger lap joint presented in the book can only do 1/4 and 3/4 finger joints only. If you want a book that gives you practical ideas, clear guidelines on how to build jigs, and which materials to use and why, I recommend you the book on building jigs from Nick Engler and from the router lady (Carol Reed, Router Joinery Workshop). Safety is important when building and using jigs with power tools. Hope this helps.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ultimate???, October 31, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Ultimate Woodshop Jig Book (Paperback)
I wouldn't call a book with just 27 jigs "ultimate". You can check out the table of contents in the "Look Inside" feature above. He does a good job with the layout, diagrams and instructions for those jigs he does cover. Most if not all of these jigs have been done in other jig books and who knows who came up with which jig first. If you have other such books, you may want to give this a pass. Five stars for those jigs included; less one star for the ridiculous use of "Ultimate".
