I have read everything in the Ultimate line so far, including the dreadful Hawk Owl and Woody. This collection is a low point for the Ultimate line. The story isn't great, the art is sub par, and it is basically just 2 issues collected with the Ultimate Handbook thrown in to fatten it up enough to make a trade paperback. I did like the informative handbook of all the characters that have appeared so far in the Ultimate universe. The 2 comic issues were just way below what you would expect. I collect the Ultimate line because they use top writers and artists. More dreck like this and I will start looking elsewhere for a good story.

Ultimate Fantastic Four/X-Men and Ultimate X-Men/Fantastic Four is a two issue miniseries written by Mike Carey with art by Pasqual Ferry. With the main X-Team away, Wolverine, Kitty, and Bobby are left at the mansion when someone attacks and steals cerebro. All signs point to the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men retaliate without hesitation. Ferry's art is bright and has an animated feel to it. I am a fan of his art, some feel that it's too cartoonish. Leinil Francis Yu does a few inserts and it flows well with Ferry's art. The premise for this story is simple and it works. There is some good dialogue and cool battles. Overall this is a fun short story, I'd give it a 3.5/5.
Ultimate Fantastic Four Vol. 6 Review
Also included is the Official Handbook of the Ultimate Marvel Universe, a two issue miniseries that details every villain, hero, and major person to appear in the Ultimate Marvel imprint up to 2005. This is outdated and limited to content released until then, which makes it mostly unusable. For example, Ultimate Tony Stark's origin has been retconned.

Ultimate X4 or Ultimate X-men/Fantastic Four is just not worth the asking price of 12.99. Thankfully I got it for cheap because the story is poor, the villain wasn't all that great to begin with, and the art is quite bad. The only thing I liked about this was the 2 Encyclopedia issues of the Ultimate universe, they may be out of date, but it is nice to see how many characters were "ultimized". Buy this only is your collecting the Ultimate universe, and you want a complete collection. Otherwise, don;t bother.
