This is by and away my all time favorite tanning lotion. I was worried that it had been discontinued and that is why I chose to purchase a full bottle online. Normally, I will only purchase packets online because I don't see how someone could tamper with a packet. Unfortunately, after using this bottle to the point that it's almost gone, I have to say that I'm not convinced that the product I bought wasn't tampered with.
When I first used Melt, I loved it because it made my skin super hot but not in a painful way like tingle lotions do. The hotter my skin is, the better it tans. I also turn off all fans when I'm in the bed because my skin needs to be as hot as possible to tan well.
The reason I think this lotion might not be 100% the real thing is because - though it looks and smells just like the Melt I've bought in salons - it did not get as hot as I think it should have. Most of the time, it felt like I was just using a normal lotion. Sometimes I would get hot spots. But it never felt like it did when I used Melt previously.
At first I assumed that this was because the bottle was old and the "SteamXtreme" expired or something. Two things caused me to realize that the bottle may have been tampered with: 1. I noticed that A-Z Lotions has a fair number of reviews written by people who believe they bought impure tanning products through A-Z; 2. I pulled off the plastic cap/stopper that you squirt the lotion out of to try to see how much was left in the bottle and realized that it came out way too easily. Normally, if you've never removed a cap like that before, you have to pull and pry them out. This cap slipped right out.
I wouldn't stake my life that this bottle of Melt was messed with but if I buy another bottle online, I will not be purchasing it through A-Z just to be sure.
Also, a tip to those who wish to save on lotions but want to avoid counterfeit products: buy variety packet packages.
