4.0 out of 5 stars Ultra Chilled is back
After the debacle and compilation'o'crap that was Ultra Chilled 3, I was ready to swear off the series as a great thing that had been cloned two too many times. However, the fourth installment truly dives back into ambient waters and delivers some fab music. There are a few blips on the album, but the makers have redeemed themselves. It's worth the money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as 3
Ultra Chilled series got weaker here (though this is a stronger effort than 5). The standouts on the CD are Erlend Oye's, "Prego Amore" and Kelli Ali's beautifully haunting track, "Sunlight in the Rain," both of which you can play over and over again without getting tired. Other than that there is a mix of mediocre songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Whoa!, February 8, 2004
By A Customer

This is a great compilation! Every Ultra Chilled has blown me away. These albums take a few listenings to really wrap your mind around, but when you do they will be the ultimate chill out. I don't really even listen to this music very much! This supports the theory that hard-core listeners and people coming from a more mainstream taste can both enjoy this C.D.
I have Each one and they are ALL incredible.

2.0 out of 5 stars Weakest chilled CD, March 30, 2004

I am a chilled CD fan, but I found this to be the weakest CD in the series. Most of the tracks are slow and uninteresting. I had a hard time finding a single track that I liked. I am surprised that other reviewers rated it so highly; so I had to give my opinion, since I bought it on their recommendations. The only track I liked was the one with Nora Jones doing background, but it alone is not worth the price of the CD. For a much better compilation, check out Ultra Chilled 3, which has many great songs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ultra relaxing, November 14, 2008
This review is from: Ultra Chilled 4 (Audio CD)
It is true what is being said about listening to the music on the cds a few times to let the music grow on you. Some of the standout tracks on this cd (admittedly some of my faves) are "beautiful" by Sarah Brightman, "sunlight in the rain" by Kelli Alli and "provider" by nerd. The reason why for the three stars is because it does honestly take a bit for this music to grow on you each listen. However if you are looking for creative and one of a kind music that is relaxing then this would be a good place to start.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why five stars???, October 10, 2007

First of all, let me just say that I never give 5 stars and I really didn't do that here. I think this is 4 1/2 stars maybe 4 3/4 stars at best. I just wanted to bring up the average since those other two reviews brought it down so low. I don't know what they expected or what their music taste is, but just because something is not what you expect doesn't mean you should rate it poorly. Even if I hated this music (which of course I don't) I would still be objective and rate it highly. It is a very well done CD.

Perhaps it differed a lot from the Drumb and Base beats that usually accustom the Ultra Chilled series, but the fact that the makers went in a slightly less, toned down direction should not take away from the quality of their work.

The music is very smoothly textured with vibrant, subdued, silky and often sexy undertones. I love playing this when the ladies are over or if you are in a lounge type setting. I worked for some pretty swanky/stylish upscale hotels in NYC and they always had a few of these tracks playing in the hotel lobby (back in 2001/2002 or something). I also used it at a travellers guesthouse in Central America this past year(worked as a bar tender/DJ there) and always got great reviews. People really dig some of the tracks and the whole album all together.

Wax Poetic w/ Norah Jones is a favorite, just a really lovely song to listen to. Very ethereal. There are 1/2 a dozen other tracks that are just as mentionable but I won't run down the whole list here. Buy the CD, you will love it!!!!
