5.0 out of 5 stars Huge hits and rareties make this a great addition to the series.
Aside from the fact that there are loads of big hits on here, what Ultra Dance has done right is giving us fairly long versions of club mixes that are virtually impossible to get on disc, including "All This Time" by Sylver, Rise Again by Tina Ann, and the dance mix of Wynonna Judd-not to mention the rare Rauhofer mix of How Would U Feel running 9 minutes! 2.0 out of 5 stars Kind of disappointing
Ultra Dance 06 is a double-disc of the hottest dance tunes so you do get your money's worth in terms of length. However, this cd set does not live up to the other normally-good releases on Ultra records.

I found this double-disc has too many songs that sound the same - too many female vocalists over upbeat mostly bland bouncy beats.

The mixing...

With big commercial hits, peak hour anthems, filter disco, and tracks sampling and covering some classic songs from ELO, Steve Winwood and Hall & Oates, this is probably the strongest disc in this series so far. Track times:

CD1
1. all this time (6:30)
2. turn me on (6:02)
3. Lola's theme (4:42)
4. If you don't know me by now (4:38)
5. Call on me (5:07)
6. put em high (5:16)
7. out of touch (5:02)
8. You won't forget about me (5:39)
9. Mamasita (6:03)
10. Rise again (6:28)
11. just move (4:26)
12. I want to know what love is (6:50)

CD2
1. how would u feel (9:07)
2. Stay (5:32)
3. when the dawn breaks (5:13)
4. Shine (5:11)
5. strings of life (8:15)
6. Stay (3:51)
7. Born to be alive (4:52)
8. hit my heart (4:33)
9. just be (6:00)
10. Till there was you (6:52)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album.Better than Ultra Dance 07, March 12, 2006
This review is from: Ultra Dance 6 (Audio CD)
Ultra Dance 06 is 10 times better than Ultra Dance 07.I have been listening to Ultra Dance 06 over and over for several months and still enjoy it. I could not stand listening to Ultra Dance 07 after only 2 days because of the crappy mixes.

Overall I like this compilation. The selection of songs is pretty good. I prefer to listen to CD2 more because of the type of music and how its mixed. There are some songs I dont particularly like but 2 CD's for $15 -- its a pretty good value.

My fiance and I have been out of the club scene for a while --- this set makes us want to get back in! For the money it cant be beat.

I found this double-disc has too many songs that sound the same - too many female vocalists over upbeat mostly bland bouncy beats.

The mixing wasn't the greatest either in between songs and that's not even something I normally notice. Basically, there was nothing really happening here for me.

Also, there seems to be a lot overlap with the Ministry of Sound "Annual 2005" double-disc. I would say you would be better of picking that one up instead of this one.

3.0 out of 5 stars too much like Annual 2005 .. but it's still great, March 11, 2006

The songs on this album are pretty good, with songs such as Lola's Theme, Call On Me, Put Em' High, Stay (the David Guetta one), When The Dawn Breaks, Stay (the one by Kim Sozzi), Stronger On My Own, and Just Be. It's definitely like the Annual 2005 ((which was mixed better)) but it has some great songs on it that the Annual doesn't have. I recommend buying the Annual 2005 because the mixing is better and there are some good songs on there too .. but this cd is still great!!

I was spoiled and looked forward to each new release of the Ultra Dance series. Yes, there were some klunkers on a couple of the earlier compilations but I rarely listen to one of the disks and the other is listenalbe but there are much better mixes out there.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ultra.Disappointment, September 29, 2005

This is a two-disc album with twelve music tracks per disc. Let me get Disc 2 (The Riddler) out of the way first, because I can easily sum that up as being overall decent, with no stinkers, but no keepers either. As for Disc 1 (Vic Latino), it's a wildly mixed bag which I will go into further detail about below:

The first thing I need to point out is the best track on this entire album, which is "You Won't Forget About Me (Original Extended Vocal Mix)" by Dannii Minogue vs. Flower Power. The music is excellent, combining a great melody with a variety of instruments including guitar, orchestral strings, and the obligatory synths. The lyrics are good, and the vocals play right into the melody, putting everything in perfect harmony. But don't take my word for it, you can listen for yourself here: http://www.beatport.com/artist/Dannii+Minogue+vs+Flower+Power
Amazon even has the single for sale (which I bought): http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0006GTDMO/104-5537192-6282340?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance

The second thing I need to point out are the two worst tracks on this entire album, which are the amazingly terrible "Mamasita" by Flexy, and the incredibly lame "Just Move" by Ultra All-Stars. Being that the problem stems directly from the infernal vocals, I hope the vocalists and lyric writers for these tracks die cold and lonely.

Other than that, there's not much to say about the Vic Latino disc. "Lola's Theme" by Shape:UK is probably the second best track, due to the neat music, but it's kind of repetitive. The rest of the tracks are more-or-less decent, but not worth mentioning.

I would give this album only a single star, but it gets a whole extra star just for including the Dannii Minogue vs. Flower Power track. Go grab that single I mentioned, and avoid Ultra.Dance 6 at all costs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Dance Compilation, February 24, 2005
This review is from: Ultra Dance 6 (Audio CD)
To me the track selection is very good with a few exceptions, but anyone would argue because there are always different tracks people dislike. I found the mixing very good and all the transitions seemed to roll smoothly into each song. I would strongly disagree with the review that said Kevin Lyttle's "Turn me on" is the leading track on this comp. as anyone that listens to dance music would know that isnt right. Overall I would say this cd is great and i would strongly recommend buying!! My friends who dont even listen to dance music are trying to get me to rip them copies.

2.0 out of 5 stars NY DJ's can't all be great, June 15, 2005
By

Once again Ultra records has put it's trust into New York DJ's, and the results are not pleasing. Disc one mixed by Vic Latino from NYC is good enough for radio (stick to KTU) but not for the higher standards set by the UK DJ's who are always well ahead of the game. Bad song choices and even worse mix choices make Disc 1 a failure.

Disc 2 mixed by The Riddler, also a NYC DJ is a vast improvment and he should be commended on his effort and this just proves not all DJ's from NYC are all bad. Better song choices here more on the Trance side but with enough vocal power to keep you moving. This Disc will be the one you play the most.

But for the money it's still a deal. I've liked Ultra's Trance CD's alot better, but if your looking for real club music stay with a proven winner and check out Ministry Of Sound, you can't go wrong with any of their CD's
