Ultra-Efficient 90 LED Magnifier Lamp - Adjustable Arm - 5" Lens

The description of this item has changed a few times, and some of the reviews appear to be for different lamps. I ordered and received a 90 LED lamp from ProMagnify and it's better than I expected at this price.

The lens is indeed glass and the optical distortion at the correct working distance (about 5-8 inches) is minimal even towards the edges. If you try to view something from too far away, then there's more distortion, but that's normal.

The box indicates this lamp comes in both a 3 diopter (1.75X) and 5 diopter (2.25X) version. Mine is the 5 diopter. The 3 diopter version would let you view things from farther away (10-13 inches) while a 5 diopter lamp is best for really fine work with small objects.

The 90 LEDs are not as bright as similar fluorescent lamps but they're plenty bright for close viewing at the correct distance. And unlike flourescent lamps, they run cool, there's no flicker, buzzing, etc. If you intend to use this as a general desk lamp with it high above your desk, however, don't expect 60 watts worth of incandescent light like you'd get from even a 13 watt flourescent. I'd say it's closer to half that.

The color of the light is "cool" but not overly blue like some LED lights can be. It's similar to a 3500K - 4000K flourescent (i.e. "cool white"). Working with the magnifier it's about the perfect amount of light and uniform with no shadows.

There's a power supply for the LEDs built into the "ring" around the lens near the on/off switch and that area runs a bit warm after its been on a while but far from being hot. The LED's, however, will likely far outlast the switching power supply.

My only real complaints are the lens is a bit loose and moves around (but it's in no danger of falling out), you have to really tighten the clamp at the head to keep it from "drooping" down under its own weight, and I'm a bit concerned the "ball socket" at the head that lets you pivot the lamp/lens might loosen up someday and not hold its setting. But those are, so far, minor complaints. It's mostly well designed and made.

Overall, it works well. And considering it costs *less* than a lot of fluorescent magnifier lamps of this size with decent lenses, it's a relative bargain.

Bought this as a gift for my Dad. He is an avid coin collector. I had bought him a smaller one last year but it wasn't strong enough. He absolutely loves this one! He can place several coins on the bench and view them at the same time without needed to bring them up to the lens. Highly recommend this product!

This item was purchased to replace a fluorescent ring light/magnifier that had seen better days. I was concerned that wouldn't be as bright as other one and was pleasantly surprised. It is as bright, and I like the instant on when you press the switch, and the compactness that you get without the fluorescent tube. It is easy to use and place where it is needed. Highly recommended. I have had it for about a month, am hopeful it lasts as long as the previous light (several years), but we'll have to see.

I purchased this for my 87 year old father. I got it to assist him in reading and working on things he can hold in his lap. It works great and is built very well. If this had any bad flaws i'd mention them, but this is a very well built magnifing lamp and would recommend this to anyone.

OK, I'm not one to break the rules and I always get annoyed when others go way off topic and criticize Amazon, a shipper etc. in this space and not do a true product review. However, The reviews posted for this product are obviously NOT for the product as illustrated or described. Various posters talk about 1 or 2 switches, fluorescent bulbs etc. The product is clearly stated to be a 48 diode LED lamp not a fluorescent. The illustrations show rows of LED's. Also the vendor referred to in several reviews is not FixFind as this product page states.
Has anyone out there actually bought the lamp that is pictured and described? I work in silver jewelry fabrication (cutting, soldering, polishing, stone setting) and my old magnifier lamp has seen better days. I'd buy this thing if it is LED illuminated and is of decent quality but I don't want to have to go through sending it back if it is actually a fluorescent. I love LED lighting and look forward to the day when all lighting is diode based.
OK, enough said. Perhaps the vendor will read this and respond. Anyone?

Even though I'm a long time Amazon customer who has never had to return a purchase, I was really worried about ordering this product. The info from the web site is confusing and some reviews didn't help my confidence.
Product pictures do not always match product description. There were questions as to whether this was really an LED light, 90 or 48 bulbs, one or two switches.
Despite all this I placed an order and this is what I received:
This is an LED light. There are 90 bulbs arranged in two circles. There is one switch. The light output is terrific; better than expected. The head pivots on a ball joint and I don't see an adjustment. Time will tell if this joint stays tight. Overall, I'm pleased with this purchase!

I use this in my shop for examining parts and small work pieces. I also use it to examine the edge on sharpened tools to insure squareness and flatness. The lamp is well constructed and fairly heavy. The only con that I have found so far is the optics of the magnifier lens. It is difficult to focus on the part, and the entire lens is NOT consistent (only the very center portion is sharp). I would not recommend this product for continuous use such as small model building or electronic assembly. The eye strain would be too much. For my use (brief examination) it is fine. The light is great and I really like the dual lights, and the ability to use either or both. The fixture is easy to position and so far has remained in whatever position I needed. Overall this product suits my needs but I do wish the optics were better.

It seems they are selling multiple different lamps under this one picture, mine only has 1 switch but yet other people are saying theirs has 2.

The magnification seems to be really good with this lamp, The lighting is incredible.
the only complaint i have is the company that is selling this lamp is not being honest enough about what your going to get.

But whatever it is still a good deal.

It was a gift for a senior citizen and his eyes got big and he left us sitting there while he set it up and continued to look at things he hasn't been able to with other devices. Good job!

The sight I received was a 90 LED white clamp-on desk lamp with magnifier (3x?) and dust cover. When I received item, it did not have clamp to attach to desk. I contacted seller, and he/she sent me a clamp in a very timely manner. Therefore, it gets 3 stars.

Light output is generous, but magnifier is somewhat difficult to use. Only when your eye and the subject beneath the lens are lined up in the exact center of the lens does it work well. When I move subject to edge of lens, my eyes strain and image is distorted. Accidentally left it on for 5+ hours, and light was not hot. On/off switch was warm but not hot. LEDs are good white light and light up subject area very generously - no problem with light output.

In conclusion - it was a good buy - just make sure you get the clamp.
