Poorly made in China,

Have you ever wondered why there are so many remanufactured Ultra-Fab 38-944017 Model 3002 Electric Tongue Jacks. I found out the hard way by buying a new one. I bench tested it before installing on my camper. It bound up on the down stroke. After rocking the switch several times it cleared. The next problem was the light switch. It fell apart in my hand. Ultra Fab sent me a new one that had to be cemented in place because the reveal would not fit the case. The gear box was a mess. I had to shrink-wrap the soldered wires and reseal them in place. After install the unit was making unusual sounds. I removed the jack screw to find several pieces of metal in the very crudely cut threads. Fiber-Fab sent me a new lower assembly and finally the jack is functioning properly.A buyer should not have to repair a new product. Spend a few more dollars and buy a quality jack. The representative at Ultra-Fab told me over the phone that they were not happy with the first load of jacks from China. Why sell them to unsuspecting customers.

We bought this electric tongue jack last summer. It lasted exactly two and a half camping trips before it stopped working entirely. We've replaced it with a Barker 3500 based on other RV'ers reviews. Spend the extra $30 or so to get something decent from a company that will stand behind their products.

Poor product / over priced parts,

I have had the Ultra-Fab electric tongue jack for about 2 1/2 seasons. Last season I started noticing it was having some troubles but nothing I couldn't work around. Now it has stopped working altogether. Being an engineer, I'm usually not too upset with having to repair things; until I see grossly inflated replacement part costs. It's one thing to build a low quality product with poor reliability, but it's another to overprice parts when you need to fix it.Don't believe me? Go to the Ultra-Fab web site and check out prices for replacement parts on the 3002 jack and let me know if you think they are fair especially considering your jack broke a lot sooner than you expected. I know, that is the way industry is today -- make your money on the aftermarket. But I don't have to like it. I have a friend who bought a Barker jack that has given him reliable performance for several years. Guess what I'm going to buy now instead of throwing good money after bad?

I have had this unit on my RV for two years. After one year, I had to repair the gear assembly on the motor. Now, the threaded shaft is binding and causing too much load on the motor. I do not recommend this product. It is cheaply made and not worth the cost.

two full seasons of use, camping 40-50 days a season, the jack was a blessing, worked great lifting our 12k TT, but this year when we opened the camper season it has died, so our experiences are the same as many others it works great for a short period and dies. This may be ok if you don't mind replacing a $200 item every other year or every third year but that can be too expensive for many of us to bear, plus the annoyance of having a piece of equipment that is not reliable and may very well quit on day 1, day 30 or day ?? but WILL quit sooner or later. I'm going to see if I can adapt a socket to still use it with a cordless impact gun, if the jack gears still work that will be a pretty easy fix.

I went with the Ultra Fab because it appeared to be a better "value" than some of the others (cheaper). It worked well for about 2 years and now it is going in the trash. Customer service at Ultra Fab was actually really good. They tried to help me fix the problem of the jack working ultra slow and the motor shutting off.I agree with previous reviews...spend 30 bucks more and go with the Barker VIP 3000 or 3500. I am ordering the Barker 3000 based on my research.

Instructions from the box to the trailer was right on. I had no problem during the first week of use on my 25' travel trailer. I will report back after summer is over.

I have had this jack now for 2 1/2 seasons and its falling apart, when I pulled it out of the box it was damaged, but I had to install it anyway because my previouse jack was damaged and I was camping... When I called utra-fab the next business day they never called back, I followed up with an email a week later still nothing.. The real problem with the jack is not the cosmetic damage it came with ( broken light) its the broken switch, cracking wires, rusting gears and poor build quality over all.I am replacing it now after 2 1/2 years becease it just will not work any longer. when it was new it was strong, it had no problem breaking my trailer of the hitch, now I have to crank it by hand, thats a huge pain.. spend the extra $50 to buy a good one, its well worth it..
