Pumpin Beats, Great Compilation,
By
This review is from: Ultra Trance 6 (Audio CD)
As a fan of dance/trance and house music, I'm always sure to check out the latest offering from Ultra Records. For the most part, they do not disappoint. This compilation is no different. With two cds of nonstop infectious beats, popping in this cd is the perfect way to get a party jumpin. I've got a handful of favorite tracks on both cds, which are well mixed and have a good flow. The club mix of Natasha Bedingfields "Unwritten" starts out the CD, and the repetition of the line "feel the rain on your skin" for me perfectly encompasses the "sensory" side of trance, it is something to be not only listened to, but felt throughout the entire body. "Faster Kill Pussycat" is a definite party song, and Kim Sozzi's "break up" is frequently stuck in my head, its just too catchy! On CD2, Dance4Life, Tiestos latest, starts the second side of the compilation in a great way. By far, my favorite song on the entire comp is Armin Van Buuren's "Love You More". It is perfect. The CD ends with Ferry Corsten's "Cubikated", a short but sweet electro song. As with any compilation, some tracks are stronger than others, but for the most part this is a solid comp.Good stuff, Ultra Records!

Commercial Garbage....,
This review is from: Ultra Trance 6 (Audio CD)
Well 1st off I love trance/house and anything electronica, Im a producer/DJ myself, and have been a regular follower of the scene. For some reason most "trance" post (lets say) 2002 seems to be nothing more than remixes of pop radio hits. And this is where this cd annoys me. The 1st 3 Ultra trance series I skipped because of that reason alone. Then Ultra surprised me with Ultra trance 4, which I thought was great. So im thinking maybe these guys are getting there act straight. Ultra 5...3 stars OK but not great...Ultra 6?....Garbage. I mean there's little worse than blowing 20$ on a music CD then having it suck. Why does it suck? Every song follows the same formula. Take a female vocalist, add the "trance" strings from the motif preset, a few synth leads here and there, and around the 3 min mark add the infamous machine gun roll breakdown. So the tracks themselves are repetitive and the lyrics are straight corny. "Let me spread my wings","lets break up so we can make up"?... Next please...

Still not as good as 4, but good enough for casual listeners,
By yyr (White Plains, NY USA) - See all my reviews

I started collecting this series with Ultra Trance 4, and was blown away, especially by the AWESOME second disc. But with volume 5, I found myself skipping some of the mediocre songs, and there was simply nothing I heard that had the "wow factor" of tracks like White Room.6 is still not as good as 4 was, but I honestly feel this is a solid release for casual listeners (like myself). Unlike last time, I'm not skipping anything, and there are a couple of tracks I actually love. Tracking Treasure Down, Can't Sleep and Find The Way made the album worth a purchase, in my eyes. If you're like me and you don't already import the best trance from around the world, this is probably a worthy purchase. If you're more worldly and up-to-date on this stuff, you should probably pass...and you probably didn't need me to tell you that.
