4.0 out of 5 stars Pumpin Beats, Great Compilation
As a fan of dance/trance and house music, I'm always sure to check out the latest offering from Ultra Records. For the most part, they do not disappoint. This compilation is no different. With two cds of nonstop infectious beats, popping in this cd is the perfect way to get a party jumpin. I've got a handful of favorite tracks on both cds, which are well mixed and have a...

2.0 out of 5 stars Commercial Garbage....
Well 1st off I love trance/house and anything electronica, Im a producer/DJ myself, and have been a regular follower of the scene. For some reason most "trance" post (lets say) 2002 seems to be nothing more than remixes of pop radio hits. And this is where this cd annoys me. The 1st 3 Ultra trance series I skipped because of that reason alone. Then Ultra surprised me with...

This review is from: Ultra Trance 6 (Audio CD)
As a fan of dance/trance and house music, I'm always sure to check out the latest offering from Ultra Records. For the most part, they do not disappoint. This compilation is no different. With two cds of nonstop infectious beats, popping in this cd is the perfect way to get a party jumpin. I've got a handful of favorite tracks on both cds, which are well mixed and have a good flow. The club mix of Natasha Bedingfields "Unwritten" starts out the CD, and the repetition of the line "feel the rain on your skin" for me perfectly encompasses the "sensory" side of trance, it is something to be not only listened to, but felt throughout the entire body. "Faster Kill Pussycat" is a definite party song, and Kim Sozzi's "break up" is frequently stuck in my head, its just too catchy! On CD2, Dance4Life, Tiestos latest, starts the second side of the compilation in a great way. By far, my favorite song on the entire comp is Armin Van Buuren's "Love You More". It is perfect. The CD ends with Ferry Corsten's "Cubikated", a short but sweet electro song. As with any compilation, some tracks are stronger than others, but for the most part this is a solid comp.

Good stuff, Ultra Records!

Then Ultra surprised me with Ultra trance 4, which I thought was great. So im thinking maybe these guys are getting there act straight. Ultra 5...3 stars OK but not great...Ultra 6?....Garbage. I mean there's little worse than blowing 20$ on a music CD then having it suck.

Why does it suck? Every song follows the same formula. Take a female vocalist, add the "trance" strings from the motif preset, a few synth leads here and there, and around the 3 min mark add the infamous machine gun roll breakdown. So the tracks themselves are repetitive and the lyrics are straight corny. "Let me spread my wings","lets break up so we can make up"?...

Next please...

4.0 out of 5 stars Still not as good as 4, but good enough for casual listeners, November 6, 2006
By

This review is from: Ultra Trance 6 (Audio CD)
I started collecting this series with Ultra Trance 4, and was blown away, especially by the AWESOME second disc. But with volume 5, I found myself skipping some of the mediocre songs, and there was simply nothing I heard that had the "wow factor" of tracks like White Room.

6 is still not as good as 4 was, but I honestly feel this is a solid release for casual listeners (like myself). Unlike last time, I'm not skipping anything, and there are a couple of tracks I actually love. Tracking Treasure Down, Can't Sleep and Find The Way made the album worth a purchase, in my eyes.

If you're like me and you don't already import the best trance from around the world, this is probably a worthy purchase. If you're more worldly and up-to-date on this stuff, you should probably pass...and you probably didn't need me to tell you that.

This album is well worth the money. I can't decide which disc I like more but I play this music almost every single day and am not getting tired of it. I have thousands and thousands of songs and these are all fantastic! Hope this helps in your decision.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ultra Trance 6 is cool..., October 2, 2006
This review is from: Ultra Trance 6 (Audio CD)
Ultra Trance 6 is pretty good...I mean it's better than other ultra trance compilations...this is the best after Ultra Trance 4. CD1 is the party going one... Natasha's "Unwritten" was praized by some reviewers...but it didn't really do much on me...ok the party starts on song 2..."Fasterkill Pussy Cat" which is Oakenfold's best....then there's two electro progressive songs...which are not bad...the Anthems begin in song 5 "Minimal" such a smooth song...it's awesome, "Cut" is nice and mellow..."Living On Video" is very addicting..."Tracking Tresure Down" slow and mellow, who said trance was progressive all the time? "He's A Pirate" Tiesto is awesome!, ok then the last three songs sound almost the same...Cascada style kind of thing...but Kim Sozzi's "Break Up" is...I don't know...I just like it...

CD2: haven't really listened to it...but I know that Tiesto's "Dance4life" Armin's "Love You More" and Above & Beyond's "Can't Sleep" are just amazing anthems....

In short...Cd 1 is the party going cd...with mainstream stuff and cheesy but nice music...CD2 is your ecstasy!

3.0 out of 5 stars Kinda a Disappointment....., September 30, 2006
This review is from: Ultra Trance 6 (Audio CD)
This Ultra Trance 6 cd is NOT like any other Ultra Trance cd. If you are looking for something a little different and new, then you might care for this more than I did. But if you love the traditional Ultra Trance cds and expect to get the same thing, then I recommend that you listen to the cd BEFORE you buy it. Some tracks are put together really well, but there might not be enough of them to get the cd. There is much better trance out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Lot Better Than The Previous one...., September 28, 2006

Let me start off by saying that I was very excited to hear that this comp was coming out and i am very happy i bought it. Last year, Ultra Trance 5 was released and i was not happy at all, the only track i like was probably "Still NoT Sorry" by Mynt. WIth that said, this Ultra Trance 6 is very likeable the songs are so great i cannot stop listening to them. On the first disc i would have to say that Plumb's "Cut", basically the whole thing but Depeche MOde should not have been included but oh well i can skip that one. Everything else on disc 1 is a sure treat it's just that good, trust me. Disc 2 is also very well put together and i have a feeling Ultra Records just got back on track because lately we all know that they've been just releasing some really lame comps. THis one reminds me more of the Ultra Trance 4 and 3 comps. If you like trance techno this is a must for you basically. It does not dissapoint.
