This review is from: Ultra X-Connect ULT31558 - Power supply ( internal ) - ATX - AC 115/230 V - 500 Watt (Personal Computers)
This Power Supply finally does something that I've been waiting for for years. It allows you to only plug in power connections you need, instead of forcing you to have a bunch of cables hanging off the Power Supply you aren't using. The Power Supply comes with enough cables to get started. If you get one of the UV versions of the X-Connect, the Power Cables will glow.

The complaints I have about this Power Supply are mostly based around the cables that come with the Power Supply. First off, there is only 1 floppy connector. So if you have a floppy drive and a Video card that needs additional power, you'll have to get a convertor or order another cable (I choose to leave out the floppy drive from my PC). The SATA Power cable is too short for any Tower case, unless you mount your Hard Drives in the 5.25" slots. Additional cables can be ordered from Ultra, like a longer SATA cable. And lastly, the power connections stick out about 1/2" further than a standard power connection. So If you have a case (like the Antec Super LANBoy) where the hard the drives are mounted side ways (back of the drive faces the side of the case) instead of forward (back of the drive faces the back of the case), you might not be able to get the sides of the case on.

Also, expect a burning smell when you first get the Power Supply. Ultra says this is from the Finish they add to the Power Supply and should go away within a week. I had to return my first Power Supply since the smell never went away after the first week. The second power supply only had the smell for 24 hrs.

Overall, I highly recommend this product. The small problems don't take away from the fact that this Power Supply is great. This type of technology has long been needed and I'm hoping that other PSU companies follow suit with future power supplies.
