*bat and lux test*

Decided to get some raw data for the flashlight.

Some info will be repeated further in the review

High Mode:
*2.2~2.3 amp draw
*Initial lux 4800~4900
*Run time @ 35%> light output 25~35 minutes

Med Mode:
*180~210 mA draw
*Initial lux 2600~2750
*Run time @ 35%> light output 55~60 minutes

Low Mode:
*18~22 mA draw
*initial lux 680~720
*Run time @ 35%> light output 3hr+

Notes:
***Lux meter measurements @ approximately 1 foot with focus at max spread "X2000". Which produces a lit area of about 1.5 feet dia. 4200mA UltraFire batteries where fresh out of the supplied charger and light was in 73 degree F room with still air.
***Strobe and S.O.S. not tested
***Output is not regulated, the light levels do slowly fall in accordance with the bat drain.
***AAA Alkaline, Ni-Cad, Ni-MH and Li-Ion negligible performance/too expensive compared to 18650 Li-Ion bat (best use AAA if you just plan to use it intermittently).

modes: High/Med/Low/Strobe/S.O.S Button can be pressed half way to cycle the modes. Just like for a digi cam when auto-focusing.

Pro:
The construction and performance of it seems to be on par with any other light out there for it's given features and attributes (but way less expensive). The "zoom" is awesome. It's like having a noticeably brighter Mag light that fits in the palm of your hand.

Con:
The quality however is lacking in certain areas. For one the rather soft plastic lens. While very clear, would scratch and gouge easily. The circuitry is basic and allows what seems to be unregulated flow of current to the emitter on high.

This flashlight is bright and you can focus it out quite a distance. It comes with 2 rechargeable batteries, a charger, and a plastic sleeve which slips over the battery to adapt it to the diameter of the flashlight. You have a second charged battery ready. It's all well made and functions well.

I found this torch very well designed and sturdy; it has a solid, durable feel and is satisfyingly weighty. The zoom function of the lens allows for a pinpoint or diffuse beam, and the fact that it comes with a rechargeable battery and charger add value. I bought one for myself, and then two more as gifts once I saw how nice it was!

I'm only writing this to confirm that this light is not 2000 lumens. It's not because of the batteries. It's because it's not 2000 lumens. It's not because the light isn't focused enough or that it's too focused - it's because it's not 2000 lumens.

I am somewhat of a flashlight junkie. I've spent multiple thousands of dollars on flashlights over the years always in search of the "perfect" light. Other than regular day-to-day uses for lights I am an insurance adjuster and I use powerful lights shined parallel to metal surfaces to cause dents to cast a shadow. Sometimes I am using flashlights in very sunny conditions because the actual sun is at the wrong angle. I've found the Black & Decker V3 to be the best sub-$100 light for these purposes. It's downfall is that it does not hold a full charge for very long so during the busy time of year I might have 3-4 of them in the back of my truck constantly charging. My regular EDC is a OLight S20 Baton. It is a legitimate 550 lumens. This UltraFire E17 that you are looking at is less intense than my S20. In other words, it's less than 550 lumens and CERTAINLY less than 2000. I would guess it to be around 200-300 lumens.

My one star rating is strictly due to the false advertising related to its claim of 2000 lumens. I decided to test it out because it got a good review from a gear reviewer on youtube. I wasted my money so you don't have to - it's not anywhere even close to being near 2000 lumens. You already knew that. I knew it too but I just HAD to find out for myself. You know it is too good to be true. Save your money.

Very happy with this item. It's bright enough to light up even a large room. I used it recently to find where the tiny ants were getting into my basement furnace room, which is very dark, and has tiny spaces, nooks and crannies. I especially like the fact that I always have a reserve charged battery on deck, so there's no dead battery issues, ever !

This light is OK for the price, But no way it's 2000 Lumen more like 300 Lumen the light itself is OK, But the batteries that come with it SUCKS!! it does not hold a charge worth CRAP!! on a full charge it will last 15 minutes on high then go dim!! Do yourself a favor and invest in some decent BATTERIES like Panasonic 18650 Samsung or Sony!! You'll be HAPPIER!! They work much better,Hold it's charge a lot longer!! you get what you pay for.

It may not be 2000 lumens, but for the price nothing comes close to the brightness with rechargeable batteries. I like it !!

Okay first off it is a nice light with some cool features and is very well built. I'm just very disappointed with the fact that I was misled about the brightness. I was hoping for a small light weight super bright flashlight for search and rescue work. But what I got was a light that is only around 200 Lumens and not 2000 I know this because its brightness is somewhere in between my department issued light rated at 180 Lumens and the smaller 250 Lumen light I keep in my car. Overall its a nice a nice light, just not what I was looking for.
