This seat is NOT heated as described. It is somewhat better than a regular toilet seat but in order to "feel" any heat, you are required to buy a larger transformer that the manufacturer happens to sell. I am very very disappointed. We are planning to see if we can pick up one at radio shack. This seat comes with a "cover" lid and using the transformer supplied, you MUST leave the cover down at all times and even then it is only marginally better than a non-heated seat. Aside from that, I love the feel of this seat. It is soft but firm. No "gel" type of feel that I was worried about. I believe the materials make it less cold feeling than regular seats. I was also concerned the materials would make it difficult to clean but so far it has been great in that regard. It also fits well on our elongated toilet bowl. If not for the lame transformer, I'd give it a 5 star review.

Just to update my review. We were not able to find a transformer anywhere else for this toilet seat and will be required to purchase it from the company. It sells for 14.95 + shipping minimum of 9.92 to my east coast location. This expense pushes the price of the seat to over $100.

In addition, I forgot to mention there is a paper with information about this when you first open the package. It states that the lid must be kept down to maintain proper temperature AND "...the seat is designed to maintain a minimum average temperature of 90 degrees in a 68 degree room with the lid down". When your body temperature is 98.6 - 90 degrees does not feel heated so much. I will try to update once we get the larger transformer. The information sheet included again states there are two optional transformers available. A 16.5 volt and an 18 volt.

Have had 2 seats for 2 bathrooms. They are great IF you remember to Keep the top down otherwise the heat escapes.
The literature states they are easy to clean. True. It also states you can place it in the dishwasher using the easy detachment method. I WOULDN'T. Will probably fail to work after that. I unhinged one of my seats to give it a thorough cleaning. I first had to detach the electrical connection (plug-in type - male to female). After cleaning the seat I went to reinstall it. The cord from the seat dangled into the toilet while installing. I thoroughly dried the female end and let it sit 2 hours for additional air drying. I reconnected it to the male end (going to the wall outlet). DEAD!!!! I did report this malfunction to the manufacturer when I ordered a new seat from them. The customer service rep was sympathetic and gave me free shipping for a new unit which is on its way as I type.
In summary: A good unit that works as advertised. DON'T EVER LET THE ELECTRICAL CONTACTS GET WET!!!!

The heat is okay if you live in a place not frigidly cold. The contact between my wire and the seat actually turned brown and cracked in about 6 moths. They sent me a new one without much hassel, I definitely will buy another one for my other bathroom.
