I WISH THEY TOURED IN MY AREA,

This review is from: Ultraphonic Hiss (Audio CD)
I purchased this CD back in March of 1997 and I still give it heavy rotation. Unlike a cassete or vinyl, they say you can play a CD a million times and not degrade its sound quality. Well, I'm pushing the limit on this one! Some have described the band's sound as "indie","synth rock", and even "fizzle pop". I'm not sure who it is that gets to sit around and formulate these colorful genre descriptions, but the closest mainstream comparison I can think of off the top of my head would be the Smashing Pumpkins and maybe the Cranberries as far as musical sound and style goes. Specifically, track 11 has an uncanny Mazzy Star feel to it, both musically and vocally. The track is very melodic and slow. A good Christian artist comparison would be Miss Angie, especially vocally. But I think Morella's Forest is overall a "harder" sounding style and less "pop" than Miss Angie.
