The bass is still very strong, but not overpowering.
L. Topper
Just know that if you love bass and mainly listen to DnB, Trance, or any type of electronic music, this headphone is most definitely for you.
Sadoc Munoz
On top of its spectacular sound, is also its excellent build quality and better-than-average comfort.

I remember my quest for outstanding bass began long ago. I'll spare you the time and skip to the end by saying that I thought I found "the one" when I bought the D2000 a second time. It was such a fabulous headphone, and I didn't plan on upgrading anytime soon. But unfortunately, curiosity killed me yet once again, and I gave in and bought the Ultrasone Pro 900 due to intriguing reviews. I've always heard Ultrasone had a legendary bottom end, but nothing could prepare me for what I was about to hear.

Let's start out with something basic. How about build and appearance?

Opening the box to the Pro 900 is a bit of a surprise. All I can say is, they look smaller in the pictures! Despite their relatively big earcups, they are lightweight, yet sturdy. Even though the headphone is entirely made of plastic, this is not the type of plastic that people will fear of breaking or cracking. This is the tough stuff. I have absolutely no worries about it getting broken or damaged in the happenings of an accident. Everything looks and feels great, including the headband adjustment mechanism, which slides easily and stays where you want it to. The headband itself is made of a more rubbery material that just feels great! No worries, no complaints. Nice simplistic design.

But build and appearance are factors that carry little weight during critique. So now, we'll move onto an overlooked category that carries a significant amount of weight when judging a headphone. The comfort.

I honestly thought these things would be uncomfortable before I bought them, but that turned out to be proven false when first placed on my head. Even after half an hour passed, I'm still quite impressed with how well these feel.

The first word that comes to mind when listening to these cans is authority. I've never heard such deep, powerful and controlled bass out of headphones. Mids and highs are stunningly clear and detailed, and the overall presentation will bring out every detail of your source material, good and bad. Listeners with low-bitrate MP3s need not apply, as these phones will mercilessly slaughter lossy files. As with most headphones, and Ultrasones in particular, give these some burn-in time in order to experience them at their full potential. With high-quality source material and a decent amp, you will be astounded at how good these headphones can sound. Highly recommended.

If you ever wonder what it feels like to have extreme bass with no distortion to the mids and highs then these headphones are a must. I agreed with another review that these provide even more bass than the famed Denon AHD2000 while keeping the mids and highs precise and sharp. A must have for those listening to techo and hip hop. They are also extremely comfortable and light. I love the rubbery plastic as it looks like you can toss them around without scratching them.

Wait, you mean these cost more than the Senn HD650?! Are you insane to get these instead of the HD650? Not at all since there is nothing like these headphones out there - clear sound with extreme bass.

I cant think of any word other than amazing to describe them. I decided on going with Ultrasone's Pro 900's since I have heard that they've got a thundering bass yet very clear and defined mids and highs. Upon hearing them for myself, I have come to realize that it is true and not some mere exaggeration. As mentioned in many previous comments and reviews, the bass is amazing, and everything else is well defined. They do have an amazing sound stage and you can easily distinguish between all different instruments being played. The only con I'd have to give them would be that there are some rare instances when the headphones produce some amount of sibilance. Picky audiophiles find it annoying. Personally, I don't mind, most of the time its hardly even noticeable. Hopefully it'll fade away as I continue to burn them in. I also got a Fiio e17 DAC/amplifier to power them. The combination is amazing between the dac/amp and the headphones! The cans sound great on their own, but the e17 brings them out! If I were to compare these headphones to the beats studio pros, these would definitely crap on them hands down. FYI, beats suck. They suck at everything other than making fashion statements. Even my old $20 Senheiser hd 202's were comparable to $200 beats solos. So far, I am very happy with these new electronics. Also worth mentioning is the fact that not only do you get great headphones, you get two detachable cables, (one is about 3 ft long and the other about 6- 9 ft with a neutrik connector!!!) Also included, are two extra ear cushions, and a really great carrying case! Not some crappy synthetic leather pouch like most other headphones come in, but this is a small portable hardcase that has a few compartments for your cables, ear cushions, etc. My fiio e-17 fits perfectly in the case along with all the other headphone accessories!

These headphones are well worth it! 8)

I'm an audiophile by my own discription and an alumnus of the Los Angeles Recording School for audio engineering.

I'd been looking for a pair of over-ear headphones for some time now, as I usually listen to music with earbuds (Klipsch, Sony, ibeats by Dre which suck,etc.). After having a poor experience with the ibeats in ear and beats Solo headphones, I sold them and decided to look for another set. Between the Sennheiser Momentums and the Pro 900's, I chose the latter.

I consider myself an audiophile, but do enjoy higher bass response than most flat-response headphones offer. Clear mids and treble are equally important to my "perfect sound"; the pro-900's deliver in spades in all three frequency ranges. There is one caveat, however: the mids are a little "scooped" on these headphones. The mids are there, and there is great detail, but it is not as prominent as on other headsets (I A-B'd with my Klipsch earbuds, which have pristine mids). These definitely favor bass and treble clarity. Don't let that deter you, though, as the overall sound on these is simply awesome.

Speaking of the bass: wow. Forget about any of the Monster Beats series. The Ultrasones are utterly superior both in quantity and quality. Your head will rattle with the low freqs presented here, just as with the Beats by Dre. However, the tone and clarity is far, far, superior. Where the beats are "muddy" sounding with bass bleeding into the low mids and generally dominating the mix, the 900's keep the bass right where it should be. These are simply the best sounding "bass-head" headphones I've ever heard.

I've now burned in the 900's for approx 40 hours. The burn-in period is really necessary on this headset.
