Standing together in a single storage/charging base, these two rechargeable tools--toothbrush and flosser--reinforce one another in a two-pronged attack on the plaque that causes tooth decay. The electric toothbrush generates 18,000 brush strokes per minute to scrub and foam away plaque while sending 1.6-MHz ultrasonic waves beneath the gumline, where the waves are said to destroy plaque bacteria. The toothbrush automatically shuts off after three minutes, encouraging users to brush until the shutoff. It's extra-long (10-1/4 inches) and has a slender handle like an ordinary toothbrush. The brush head consists of the bristle portion only, making it less expensive to replace than is the case with some electric toothbrushes. (Three replacement brush heads are included.) The electric flosser removes plaque from between teeth and in gum pockets by vibrating its nylon-bristle tip to produce 18,000 orbital strokes per minute. It's especially useful for people with braces, bridges, and implants because it reaches places string floss can't reach. Sixty color-coded cleaning tips accompany the flosser, equally divided among thin (white), medium (blue), and thick (green) bristle tufts. The various sizes are designed to fit in all possible spaces, including the tiny openings to gum pockets, and the bristles have rounded ends for safe, gentle cleaning. Both toothbrush and flosser carry a 1-year warranty against defects.
