Disappointing Quality,
By DMS Student (Cincinnati, OH) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ultrasound Scanning: Principles and Protocols, 3rd Edition (Hardcover)
There was much hype about the new edition. In fact, our class went weeks without a text book waiting for it to be released. As I read the book, I found many inconsistencies and I began writing them down for clarification from my instructor. These "inconsistencies" turned out to be errors...some publication and some writer error. By the time we were finished I had 7 type-written pages of mistakes (my instructor sent them to the editor). I was disappointed that as a first year student I was able to find critical errors that editors should have caught. And to add injury to insult, the quality of the book was so poor that the binding broke and I have pages falling out. The book is literally split in two. You may not have a choice when purchasing this book (if required), but don't be afraid to question what you read...you may be correct.

A Must Have Book for any U/S Tech,

Excellent book. Most of the more common protocols are in here, with sector images and simplified explanatory drawings of each one. Detailed description of all aspects of how to obtain good images as well as patient prep etc. I've seen even the most experienced tech refer to it on many occasions.

I was excited to see an updated version of this essential textbook, and while I'm pleased with the content and find the protocol drawings and images very helpful, the binding on this book -- as mentioned by another reviewer -- is terrible. After less than a half-semester's use, the first 150 pages or so are completely loose and out of the book. I'd have been better off just pulling everything out and putting it in a three-hole binder. There are special textbook-quality bindings out there, and I'd gladly pay extra for it given that I'd like to hold onto this text for a few years but, sadly, it doesn't appear to be offered by Saunders/Elsevier in this case.

This book is fantastic. I am only starting out my studies as a sonographer and found this book very useful. It provides a concise summary of the general scanning principles & methods and for each region of the body broke it down into anatomy, physiology, sonographic appearance, patient position, transducer etc. Very good summary - detailed enough that you get the information required, but not overly wordy. It covers it all, very concisely. Well written & easy to understand. I found this book very handy and complimented my other texts book very well. I would highly recommend it to students and as a reference for qualified sonographers.

It was a super fast service for me to get the book i ordered. Unfortunately, i mistakenly ordered the different version of the book, they reponded so quick by email and let me return it. The only problem was all the reply emails were sent to my SPAM MAILBOX automatically. I didn't found out the problem, until I thought they hadn't get back to me for 1-2 weeks but they actually did a good job, quick responds. So, make sure to check tha SPam Mailbox as well.

U/S Scanning: Principles and Protocols,

This review is from: Ultrasound Scanning: Principles & Protocols (Hardcover)
This is the only Ultrasound book I have seen other than my class text so I cant compare it to anything else out there. With that in mind, I rate this as an excellent book. All of my lab instructors own older copies and I could see how I would use this as a reference in the future.
