Well written and well done!, October 1, 2011
This review is from: Ulysses S. Grant: America's 18th President (Encyclopedia of Presidents, Second) (Library Binding)
I checked this book out of the library, mainly because the picture on the front resembles a friend of mine. But eventually, curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to go ahead and read it. And to my delight, I found this book to be quite enjoyable. The author does a remarkably good job of making complex presidential and political issues very comprehensible. And there is a wealth of information concerning his life of which I did not previously know. And I am pretty well versed in War Between the States history, albeit mainly from the Southern point of view. Overall, I highly recommend this book. It opens with Ulysses S. Grant's boyhood and continues on throughout the remainder of his life. We learn a lot about our country's history in the process, as well as about him. It is definitely worth the while, both for children and adults. A definite five out of five stars in my humble opinion.
