5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Brazilian Band Ever!!! November 26, 1998
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Legião Urbana is one of those bands that can't die. Their CDs are being sold a lot, ever after Renato Russo's death. He was the best poet of brazilian rock, and this title made him one of the most important musicians in our music. His albuns inspire poets and musicians (like me) to try to do what he did. This album, "Uma Outra Estação", is one of the most varied albuns from Legião. Very good pop songs ("As Flores do Mal", "Comédia Romântica"), very emotional ballads ("Clarisse", "Antes das Seis") and also a very good song in English ("Mariane"). If you can, buy all of their CDs, because each one is better than the other. Renato Russo has also two solo albums, one in English ("The Stonewall Celebration Concert" - oh yes, he was bissexual) and one in Italian ("Equilíbrio Distante"). I think there is also a solo in Portuguese, called "O Último Solo" ("The Last Solo"). Even if you don't speak Portuguese, buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Leader of all Teens November 17, 1998
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Legião Urbana, such an old band, with such young fans. It's incredible how the lyrics of R. Russo can express love itself so well. "The lyrics talk about a love that Russo could never have." This album in a CD full of unreleased tracks from the band, some that even doesn't have R.R.'s vocals in it. Just think of it, some of the songs of this guys used to have Bible passages with passages from a poem from the fifteenth century, and it made incredible success. He was a guy with a open and unique mind, that could make songs like angels would like to, in a young rhythm, leading the teens to his shows and thoughts. Anyone can enjoy it. URBANA LEGIO OMNIA VINCIT.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album, Great Band October 18, 1998
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Boy, I can't help but think that if these guys were American or English, they would have been the band of the last two decades. Of course, if they had been American or English, they wouldn't have been as good, either. As it stands, consider yourself _very_ fortunate to have discovered this Brazilian gem of a group. Buy the record and cuddle up with someone who speaks portuguese; you'll never look at rock the same again.

Legião Urbana was the best brazilian band ever. They started playing in the beggining of the 80's in Brasília, the Brazil's capital city. Legião's line-up was: Renato Russo - Vocals and all the Lyrics; Dado Villa-Lobos - Guitars; Marcelo Bonfá - Drums; Special guests were invited to play the bass. Legião Urbana was the most selling band Brazil's ever had. With 9 albums, they've sold more than 7 million CDs. It may sound ridiculous, but it's almost a miracle to sell a million copies of an album here, and with rock groups this is very much harder... Well, not to say more, I'll make a little review of this album, 'Uma Outra Estação'. Unfortunally, in 1996 Renato Russo died of AIDS. Half an year later, the group has released this album, full of new songs. It's best songs are "As Flores do Mal", "A Tempestade", "Uma Outra Estação" and "Antes das Seis". It also includes a song which was written in english, "Mariane". This album is usually bought by Legião's fans, if you don't know the band, I recommend other albums like "Dois", "Que País é Este" and "As Quatro Estações", which was the most sold one. That's only a little bit of Legião.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep Listening August 24, 2000
Format:Audio CD
If you have no idea who these Legião Urbana guys are, don't buy this particular album. The curious should seek out something like "As Quatro Estaçoes" or "5." I am a big fan and even I didn't like this album the first time I listened to it. But after giving it a second chance, I rate it as highly as any other album of theirs.
The jacket states that this album is the history of the lives of the band members. I feel bad for them, as the album is full of sorrow and broken dreams. But it also resonates with hope and the purity of love. In my opinion Mr. Russo and his (unfortunately) almost anonymous bandmates are true artists. They managed to share what was in their hearts with their listeners.
