Solid, Lay Level Introduction to an emerging area,
By Lab Rat "Bob" (Plano, Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Umbilical Cord Stem Cell Therapy: The Gift of Healing from Healthy Newborns (Hardcover)
Don't pay any heed to the naysayers. This book gives a good lay level introduction to an emerging field. So far as I can tell, neither Dr. Steenblock or Dr. Payne claim to be stem cell experts, just observers & writers sharing information and true life patient case histories of patients treated by Dr. Fernando Ramirez as part of his Mexican government sanctioned stem cell program. Dr. Payne, BTW, has a doctorate in nutritional medicine from an accredited program in the Philippines and has had some of his work published in such peer reviewed journals as Medical Hypotheses and Science. A simple Medline search would turn up some of these papers and professional letters.

Armed me with understanding, info, geat stories and more!,

So many science books are "ho hum" -- difficult to wrap your brain around. Not this baby. I found this introductory book on cord blood stem cells and therapy remarkably easy to take in, digest and remember. The patient histories are compelling and the writing is logically structured and actually beautiful. I wish my college science profs could have communicated hard topics as easily as Drs. Steenblock and Payne do. Reminds me in some ways of Carl Sagan's writing. I highly recommend that anyone wanting to know more about stem cells - especially cord blood stem cells -- get this book.

This is my kinda book -- concise, fact-based and filled with deliciously heartwarming stories of adults and children who are making their way to better health thanks to cord blood stem cells. I've bought copies for coworkers, friends and family and hope those reading this review do likewise.

This book helped me understand stem cells -- adult, embryonic and umbilical -- how they differ -- and how umbilical stem cells are delivering the goods in bring healing to many sick people. There are some really moving stories in this book, too. Anyone who is ill and looking for options needs to get this book. Hats off to Dr. Steenblock and Dr. Payne!

Smells funny when most of the reviewers have only reviewed this one book!,

Most of the people giving 5 stars to this book have only reviewed this one item. That's suspicious to me and can indicate the reviews are created by the author or the author's friends/associates/family/whatever.
Google these two authors and check out their credentials before you buy their book.

Fascinating and easy to read!,
By Nurse Paula (Omaha, NE USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Umbilical Cord Stem Cell Therapy: The Gift of Healing from Healthy Newborns (Hardcover)
This book delivers! It is concise, easy-to-understand, and presents things with a balance of science, passion and compassion. I like the fact that this isn't a "do this and you'll see miracles" book, like so many health books these days. There is great promise in cord blood stem cell therapy, but the authors are careful to make it clear that their findings are tentative and need to be formally evaluated via clinical trials. I hope there is a 2nd edition coming with more patient stories and updates on the science behind all this.

This book was just the beginning of my journey to get umbilical cord stem cells for my son with brain injury. It helped me get educated to ask the right questions so I could make safe decisions for my son. I personally have met Dr. Steenblock. And my son did receive umbilical cord stem cells from Dr. Ramirez in Mexico. We have nothing but great things to say about them and the whole process. My son is definitely showning improvements and we are in the process of planning our next trip. Hope this helps. [...]

Thanks for bringing hope for healing,

I read this book cover-to-cover in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. I happen to know that the embryonic stem cell "debate" is primarily a patenting and thus monetary issue, and not at all about what is best for mankind. If this book hadn't come about, most people would not now know about this "free" and fabulous source of regenerative medicine and healing. Drs Steenblock and Payne have done their research, their legwork, and their homework - even in the face of opposition (greed and ignorance have a tendency to cause that). I hope this is just the first in a series of books from Steenblock on regenerative therapies that lead to genuine healing for our very sick world. Judge this book for yourself, you'll be glad you did.

Stem Cells derived from Human Umbilical Cord blood are safe, ethical and have great promise to help with those disabilities, such as Cerebral Palsy, for which no cure exists today. Once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down and am waiting for the sequel to be published!
