This rod is nice but nothing too special. It is about what I expected for the price. From a distance, it looks good. Up close, it's not terribly substantial in terms of its heft and sturdiness. It can definitely hold the gauzy cotton curtains we use and probably wouldn't give much even if you added heavy thermal curtains. We have this size and the much longer one for a bigger window, and this size is nicer and more sturdy.

The biggest plus on this set is the finish, I think. The dark brown metallic finish could pass for black from a distance but is noticeably not black if you're going for a bronze or brown look. I like that versatility.
