I moved into a new apartment about 6 months ago and needed some fresh trashcans (since I didn't keep all of them from my previous home). I searched high and low at discount stores, home stores, Amazon, etc. But non had the exact trashcan style and size that I was looking for.

Then I came across these Umbra eco-friendly trashcans. A bit reluctant to order a trash can online (although I do buy just about everything else online) I tried one out.

I am very pleased and have since ordered a couple more. These are a great size for a home-office, bathrooms, closet (to throw dry-cleaning tags into), etc. The bright colors inside the cans are a pleasant surprise when changing the bags out.

These are sturdy, nicely made trash cans and I highly recommend them.

I was a little disappointed in this trash can that we purchased to complement our bath set: Croscill Cheshire 4-Piece Bath Set, Bronze. First, it is not rigid and easily changes shape. Second, it's clearly plastic - "Metalla" although spelled like "Metal" is about the furthest thing from it. Third, the photo is a little deceiving as the can is bronze with dark highlights, while our other fixtures and accessories are the opposite (so it's more gold than dark).

However, it does have some redeeming qualities that saved it from 2-stars or fewer. The trash can we wanted was over $40 on Amazon, so for the same price I can get three of these and not feel bad about throwing them out as they are bio-degradable. Also, this one is twice the size so I can use real trash bags and don't have to empty it as often. It could get four stars if they made the material or structure more rigid - it may still not look like metal, but at least it would feel solid.

I got one of these for our bedroom, and was so pleased with it I just ordered another one. It's the perfect size (not too small). Yes it is plastic, but it has a nice metallic finish to it. The furniture in our room is a deep brown, and this goes great with it. This was a great find.

Seriously, I really like this waste basket. I ordered it for our spare room/office after we moved into a larger apartment; mostly, I don't pay attention to it, but every time I empty it I think about how nice it looks. Our other waste baskets around the house are mostly the ugly white Rubbermaid type things, which are pretty much the same price but don't really "go" with any decor and tend to show dirt, scuffs, etc. all too clearly. This piece would complement most decors and really blends in nicely. It is definitely a bit darker than it looks on my monitor here, but still, very nice.

I don't know why I haven't yet replaced the living room waste basket with another one of these, come to think of it. Not really as suitable for a bathroom or kitchen since you'd want to use a bag and it would detract from the elegance of the finish, but perfect for an office waste basket or any other area where you're mostly throwing away things that aren't too messy.

It's made of plastic, but I disagree with the reviewer who claims that it "easily changes shape." It's a rigid plastic, and I have yet to do anything to it that would cause it to warp. It feels plenty solid to me.

Ordered this waste can for my main bathroom, which has bronze hardware & faucets. This Umbra Metalla 3.5 Gallon Metallic Bronze Waste Can couldn't look better! Excellent price as well! It is a great size, it's less wide and a little taller, giving it a more sophisticated look. Instead of using grocery store plastic bags to line this can, I bought 4 gallon trash bags (which are very cheap) from the grocery store. I would recommend this can to anyone who wants to match their waste can to their faucet or vanity knobs. It looks rich, without the price-tag. 5-Stars! Thanks Amazon!

I love this trash can considering it is for trash afterall. The color is a bronze-gold and looks great with my decor. I have one in my bedroom next to my bed and one in my great room under the coffee table as the kids always have trash out there. It blends in well and you can hardly tell it is for trash. The size is a little bigger than your normal "bath" trash can and i think that is a great feature. The more it can hold the better as far as I am concerned. Umbra is a brand I use all over the house and I think their products are above average as they look great, are well made, sturdy and overall a very good deal. Pay a little exta compared to the discount store, you won't be disappointed!

We'd been looking to replace a decades old small brown trash can in our living room, that too, was plastic. While the 12.99 we paid amazon seemed a bit steep for plastic that's no more than 1/5 the thickness of our old harder plastic can, overall we're very happy with this can's look and design.

Being thin, it's very lightweight, yet doesn't feel flimsy. It holds its shape well. The can we received looks identical to the brushed bronze can pictured on amazon. Though, vertical scaring and pattern shift, keep the finish from looking quite as uniform from all angles, as that pictured. And, it should be noted that if placed in a dark corner, it'll look mostly deep brown; the can needs light to reflect the bronze highlights. The brushing looks nice from a distance. Up close, even only a few feet away, it becomes obvious it's not real metal though - something to keep in mind if you're looking for a can that might actually fool guests into thinking it's real. This can won't be mistaken for the real thing shy of ten or fifteen feet away.

We also really like the height better than we thought we would. Aside from it holding more, being taller than most cans, you don't see the trash inside as easily. With the can half full - which is about as full as it gets in a given week, in our living room - you've got to walk right next to it to see any of the trash inside. An inside lip to conceal a bag liner would be an improvement the designers should consider. As is, we don't use a trash bag inside, which is fine, as we didn't use one with our previous can either.

yes it's plastic but matches brushed bronze finish throughout the bathroom. Unfortunately it's too big and would not fit between the vanity and toilet. For some reason it seems a lot bigger than 3 gallon size, perhaps i should have measured the volume but its already been returned.

I bought this because it was round, and it's looks. I had a big blue ugly trash can in my bedroom/office and it just looked out of place. So I looked and looked and found this trash can, and I just wanted to put it under my desk for simple things like plastic, paper, bottles, stuff like that. No food or anything becasue it's open and I didn't plan on using a trash bag for it either.

It is plastic, but it is pretty well made, looks really nice! Very Shinny!

All in all, I think it's a great garbage can!
