and probably just getting better! But, they're still flying under the radar (except possibly for all those folks who keep attending their concerts) because most people I ask have never heard of them. So, I try to spread the word on their music as best I can, but the most impressive way to experience them is through their concert DVDs, especially the most recent. Part of that has been shown on the Palladia (sp.?) live music channel, so maybe more people have seen them now. I hope they keep on going! They're just a remarkable band!

I Am not sure what the deal is on this live CD. I never see it listed anywhere as an “official” live album, so maybe this is a bootleg? Don’t know for sure, but it is a well recorded live document of the band back in their earlier days. The performance was recorded in Atlanta in 2003. As any Umphrey’s fan knows, live is where these guys really shine and although a bit sloppy in spots, this album gives a pretty good representation of what their live shows are all about. Several concert staples are to be found here including “Hajimemashite”, “40’s Theme”, and “Jimmy Stewart” all of which serve as jumping off points for improvised jams. The band always do a cover or two live and here they throw in Rush’s “YYZ” doing a credible job for the most part. Bottom line, this is a cool, seemingly relatively unknown live album that I would think most UM fans would dig.
