Modern young people have little conception of what life was like for women at the turn of the last century. Thanks to groundbreakers like Amanda Clement, attitudes toward women have changed. Marilyn Kratz brings this era to life in an inspiring and entertaining story about this spunky, memorable heroine.

I received this book as an Early Reviewer. As a teacher, I can tell you that this book is very appealing to children (especially grades 2nd-5th grade). It is interesting, well-illustrated and humorous in some parts. I had never heard of Amanda Clement but after reading this short biography I was quite impressed with her. I will do a bit more researched on her. Amanda was truly inspirational. I also appreciate the cards sent and the Cracker Jack box. This small company in S. Dakota has done an excellent job with this book.

I have been lucky to get a sneak preview of this book. I shall buy several copies as gifts for adults who like baseball and children to be inspired and also have a book for school reports. Every library should have this book too. The author really puts the reader in the story - it's like you can feel the 5'10" gal reach up as she cries, "Play Ball" before a stunned crowd. For all girls who like to play baseball - here is the perfect gift!
