I listened to this via the movie website (which was entirely in French), did I mention I can only speak American English? Tragic...
I listend to the snippets available through the website and the range of music genre and emotion just swept me up! With this album you'll get a throw back to the radio din of the early twentieth century and a modern blast of twenty first century folk rock. I would definitely suggest listening to the sound bites available through the albums website or itunes. Do that before deciding on the album, and don't expect everything to be translated.

if that isn't a link you can click on, just above this line, copy and paste it into your browser bar. It should take you to the album's website, and it should not contain any viruses or worms, it didn't for me.
------EDIT----- my link has been misplaced, in this case google the albums name and the movie site should come up.

This soundtrack is amazing! From the haunting "un Monstre a Paris" To the upbeat and toe tapping reprise of "La seine" this soundtrack has everything.

Now, if only the movie would come out....

I've already left a raving review of A Monster In Paris a couple of weeks ago, but I feel the need to also leave one on the soundtrack, which is easily one of the best parts of the movie. It was through a song ("La Seine") that I found and fell in love with the movie, so it's only appropriate that the music of this movie remains one of my favorite parts of it.

The music of this film is gorgeous, even if I can't understand a word of the lyrics. In particular, the song "La Seine" is an enchanting number, a duet between the titular monster (voiced by French musician M) and the singer Lucille (voiced by Vanessa Paradis) that's lively without being frantic or overbearing. The monster's solo number, "A Monster In Paris," is equally beautiful, a meloncholy song that quite clearly portrays poor Francouer's confusion and loneliness at finding himself lost and alien in a human-run Paris.

Let me reiterate, however -- the FRENCH version of the album is excellent. While the English translations of the songs are passable and pleasant enough, I highly prefer the original language. No offense to Sean Lennon, but his voice doesn't quite sit right with me, and I prefer M's.

Well worth the price, whether you're an avid soundtrack collector or just want a pleasant and beautiful album to listen to. Even if you don't understand the language, the music is lovely.

I had earlier purchased the english soundtrack for this film, yet found myself enamored with both the original french music as well as the english. If you get a chance to see said film or at least listen to the music, I highly encourage it. Both are lovely.

My sister loves the movie and for Christmas I was looking for a present for her, I found this and decided to buy it for her. Not only does she LOVE it, so does the family! The music is beautiful like the film.
