BATTISTI AT HIS BEST,
By
This review is from: Una Giornata Uggiosa (Audio CD)
As I wrote in a previous review to the CD Emozioni, Battisti's music and lyrics are the best reason for learning italian. But even if you didn't grow up singing his songs, you might not want to miss the sheer poetry and rythim of this record. This was the last LP that the duo Battisti and Mogol (lyrics) made together.Sadly it is also his final outstanding contribution to music, because the magic was lost or transformed when their cooperation ended. Subsecuent records, without Mogol's writing, do not express Battisti's genius. So, if you are looking for a masterpiece and the precise music for times of sorrow and happiness, for introspection and revelation, you will find a song in this CD that suits all those moods that are so difficult to express and relive, were it not for Battisti. For instance, if you love the colours and hues of Toscana or Provence, or if you have loved in these places, it will be impossible not to find yourself there again, in real time, listening to the song Amore Mio di Provincia. And if you have debated with yourself about the strength of the first bursts and sensations of a new love, the uncertainty of its future and the need to live forever, once again, the burning sensation, then you can sing Con il Nastro Rosa. LUCIO, SEI PARTITO, MA NOI, TREPIDANTEMENTE, TI SENTIAMO ANCORA OGNI GIORNO. ARRIVEDERCI AD UN ALTRA SERA.......

The best from Italy,

Though years ago Lucio passed away years ago, his music still is as fresh as a lettuce. If you love ballads don't miss Battistis's Orgoglio e Dignita, Questo amore and Gellosa Cara. Is like fresh air running through your hair in a summer night. You will find that Una Giornata Uggiosa (A rainy day) is in fact a perfect sunny day.

Lucio Speaks a Universal Language,

You don't have to be Italian to appreciate Lucio Battisti's extraordinary musical talent. I was introduced to his genius while I was married to my late husband, Rodolfo Ceccherini, who grew up listening to Lucio. His voice can be haunting, melancholy, and altogether dazzling. Even without knowing the lyrics you can identify with the message his music and voice convey. A song like "Una Vita Viva" immediately put you in an up-beat frame of mind. Love songs such as "Gelosa Cara" and "Questo Amore" touch your heart with Lucio's emotional intensity. Listen to this CD whenever you want to be transported to Lucio's magical realm.
