By chance I bought this CD at the local airport as I was leaving Corsica some 8 years ago, and have recommended and played it ever since, even referred to it lovingly in my memoirs (In Passionate Pursuit, NY, George Braziller, 2004): "mounful melismatic odes with drawn-out open fifths in what sounds like medieval Tuscan. The words convey uneasy but wondrously evocative homage to the island's 'weeping winters, blood-tinged sunsets, uneasy granite mountains, cold desert nights, sudden thunderstorms, and endless sea.'"
This CD is an absolute TREASURE!

I saw A Filetta in person in Wales. They are six Corsican men who stand in a semi-circle, heads together, and sing a capella (sometimes also with a plucked instrument), creating some of the most haunting sounds humans can make. Songs of anguish about their country, songs of devotion about their religion. This album is drenched with duende, and will never be found by accident. It's not on the popular circuit; it needs me to tell you, and then you'll tell everyone else.
