Excellent French<-->English Reference Tool, May 10, 2005
This review is from: Harrap Unabridged French-English/English-French Dictionary, 2 Volumes (Harrap Bilingual) (v. 1 & 2) (Hardcover)
Although it may take quite some time for your order to process and ship out (6 weeks in my case), the Harrap's Unabridged French-English Dictionary (2-volume set) is well worth the wait. It is also well worth the $87 price tag: after comparing Harrap's to the other top quality bilingual, Le Robert & Collins Super Senior (another extremely impressive reference tool), it appears to me that Harrap's is indeed what it claims - "the most complete bilingual dictionary available." It is 3,000 pages long (roughly 1,500 pages per volume), up-to-date (published in 2001), and contains an impressive amount of idiomatic coverage, THE feature that most French->English translators (and all translators) are looking for in a general dictionary.
If you are serious about French (whether you're a translator, university student, or just an all-out francophile), Harrap's Unabridged is what you've been looking for.
