5.0 out of 5 stars Great debut
My lady and I saw UNAMERICAN in Seattle at the Sit and Spin (Sit & Spin is a combination laundry/cafe with a funky decor that reflects the bohemian spirit of Belltown.) 3.0 out of 5 stars Nice album from a new band
A solid effort from a worthwhile new band. I think 5 stars gets thrown around a bit too lightly in the reviews. This is a good album worth purchasing, it has a couple of excellent songs (Mary's Son, Wicked, and Closer You Get) and a few duds (This is the end). The band puts forth a very good performance, maybe a little overproduced at times. I bet they are very...

My lady and I saw UNAMERICAN in Seattle at the Sit and Spin (Sit & Spin is a combination laundry/cafe with a funky decor that reflects the bohemian spirit of Belltown.) The band played a one hour set and featured most of the Tracks from their current CD. The music was at times emotional and always powerful. The clever rythmic patterns in their original songs were infectious. Musically centered in a classic 4 piece form ( lead, rhythm, bass guitars and drums )the band was tight and controlled and the lyrics were handled intelligently and by lead vocalist McEwan. The hard to please Seattle audience cheered song after song. The penultimate song was a pulsating tribute version of Niel Young's 'Don't let it bring you down' from the 'After The Goldrush' album. Great new band-excellent CD-

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Surprise!, December 1, 2000

My husband and I went to a Who concert this year and were surprised and delighted to realize we really were enjoying the opening act. (Although we should have known that The Who would have great taste.) We've never purchased a CD from an opening act before, but we couldn't wait to order this from Unamerican! (great name, by the way). We were both impressed with the hard rock edge to the songs as well as the lyrics and general tone of the band. I think this CD is only a preview of what we can expect from this group down the line, and I look forward to their sophomore efforts.

I saw them open for The Who at the Pepsi Center. These guys have alot of talent and the music is new but "familular". Great lyrics, great sound--thank you to The Who and Page and Black Crows for introducing them to us. The autographs were great also -- we were the first and second in line to get them -- wish we could have had time to talk some--but we were there to see The Who the best band ever. UnAmericans "rock" the United States, please come back soon!!!! The CD is well worth every penny. Spiritual is my favorite song.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just seen 'em live!, July 6, 2000

This is one of the most promising bands I've heard in a long time. They are opening for The Who and I've already seen them in Holmdel, NJ and Nissan Pavilion, VA. And I'm off to see them again tomorrow in Camden, NJ. I liken them to Creed. I'm not all that comfortable with the religious undertones, but I can live with that considering the talent and potential. BTW, The Who is pretty good, too . . .

I seen Unamerican in concert last night with the WHO in Denver, Co. and was very impressed. I enjoyed their music and lyrics. I had never heard of them before, but that is why I am ordering their CD today. Highly recommended if you like good old rock and roll.

A solid effort from a worthwhile new band. I think 5 stars gets thrown around a bit too lightly in the reviews. The band puts forth a very good performance, maybe a little overproduced at times. I bet they are very good live. This album highlights their promise and it will be interesting to watch out for them in the future. The band that they remind me of is Toad the Wet Sprocket.

Worth purchasing - absolutely. 5 stars - I'm afraid not.

5.0 out of 5 stars b.a. mindful, June 27, 2000

Today i woke, listening to this disc again, as i have been for the past month. I have two Unamerican discs, one for my room, and the other travels to work and my car. The reason - I can't stop listening to it. I own over 700 cd's, and this one is up there in the top 15. It's a melodic, hard edged rock album, with hooks that could easily catch a whale. Influenced by Dylan, Zeppelin and other classics, THEY ROCK with a guitar driven sound. Combined with killer lyrics and vocals, it's honestly intoxicating. BUY IT OR MISS OUT! By the way, they've got to be pretty damn good to be touring with the WHO. Get the idea?

Myself,my best mate Caroline,my brother Alex and his wife Jane and friends and relatives of unamerican guitarist Matthew saw them at the Borderline club in London.Wow! they obviously love playing live and should be seen to be believed! I have never seen a band enjoy themselves sooo much.As soon as they finished they were mingling with the audience and stayed on until long after the club was emptying.I am sure they will be a great success, the sound was superb and very true to the album.Get this or miss out for sure. All the best unamerican..cant wait for the next live gig.
