After hearing Do It To It a few months back, I thought these guys might be a one hit wonder, but you know what? These girls can sang. This cd has some really good tracks on it. They have excellent harmonies and the music is great. Sometimes the songs aren't lyrically all that, but overall, they've done an excellent job and I really like this.
Do It To It is a great song although I'm a little tired of it now that it's gotten so much airplay, but the other good songs here are Stop Calling Me, That Boi and the slow funky ballad Whenever. I think Cherish have done great and there will be another couple of singles yet to come from this group.

I believe that Cherish hit that certain spot with this album. Though I expected to hear more upbeat songs like "Do it to it" I was pleasantly shocked when I heard tracks like "Moment in time" "Oooh" "Show And Tell" & "Whenever" and i realized that these girls can really sing. "Do it to it" although my FAVORITE song and it being upbeat and catchy (BIG UPS ON SNAP THE SNAP MOVEMENT)didn't totally showcase their vocals like the other songs, but this album without a doubt was a good jump off for them, and I wish them much success in the future! And for all yall hatas that have to put that ugly feedback on here - At least Cherish was brave enough to go out their and put themselves on the line and do what they love, and it's very clear that there are more fans than hatas **SHAKE THEM HATAS**

Cherish are gifted singers, but the music tracks are rather typical, though they sound good at first, due to mixing of catchy bass tracks. Some of their songs sound like they could have been recorded by Ciara (That Boi, Do It To It) some sound like TLC for the 21st century
(Ooh, Whenever). Girl groups have a tough job against solo singers, cuz all R&B solo singers lay down their own background vocals. In fact, now, typically, there are so many background vocal parts done by the solo artist themselves, that it always sounds like a girl group, leaving very little for a real girl group to do to sound unique and special, except perform live and look self contained without the assistance of more hired background singers to cover the parts heard on the CD. With Cherish, you really can't tell or are unaware of when different members are taking the lead, there is no distinctive, unique quality to the girls' voices, it just sounds like a solo artist doing lots of her own background. This coupled with mono thematic songs about raw sex and gettin' it on, make the songs not just a little too hood but almost too shallow as well. The best song in terms of long term quality is Unappreciated, while Do It To It is amazingly monotonous, despite its catchy groove. It would be more interesting to see if the group can mature and get more quality songs for future albums.

This CD is actually pretty good. These young girls can sing and are very talented. I thought to myself I ain't gonna waste money on these little kids but they are young with grown voices. The album is worth a listen. The slow jams are all excellent but overall they harmonize well and show that they have vocal range. Capitol is releasing some excellent albums this year, first Latoya now Cherish, definitely some talented ladies on capitol records.

I didn't know what to expect from Cherish but I was impressed. This cd turned out really well. They have great voices and harmonize skillfully. All the songs on the album are nice and worth listening to over and over again. The beats are hot and definitely compliment the girls' vocals. The guest appearances are good as well, the featured artists really help bring something extra to the songs. Overall, I think Cherish made a great debut and will be around for a while to come. We haven't seen a good girl group in a while, so this is refreshing. I highly reccomend checking out this album. Hot songs: Chevy, Unappreciated, and Chick Like Me.

3-1/2 stars -- Unappreciated? Here's why...,

Cherish had a song floating around back in 2003 called "Miss P.", but after it failed to garner any interest from the public, the album it was supposed to be on was shelved. Then they made an appearance on Da Brat's song "In Love Wit Chu" off her Limelite, Luv & Nightclubz album (but nobody bought THAT either). But the foursome finally hit it big by borrowing the YoungBloodZ's Sean Paul for their song "Do It to It"; thus, they were finally album to release an album, Unappreciated.
The best songs on the album are the ones that go into sexual territory, like "Show and Tell". And even though "Chevy" might seem corny to some listeners, it did the trick for ME. But the reason why nobody is really talking about this album is because of the ladies themselves. Now, it goes without saying that the ladies all look like each other because they're sisters (which isn't a bad thing because beauty obviously runs in the family), but the thing is; they all SOUND exactly the same too, which proves for a lack of distinction. And speaking of that, looking at the album as a whole, it really doesn't sound much different from any other R&B girl group's album out there. That, and there a few songs that I can do without, like "Taken", "Chick Like Me" (featuring Rasheeda) and "Stop Callin' Me". Oh, well; the King sisters do have talent, but if they really want people to cherish their style, then they should vary it up a little. Anthony Rupert |
