On A Night Like This
The sparks between Aiden and Sara have been smoldering since they were teenagers. Sara is afraid to take another chance on a man who broke her heart, and Aiden knows better than anyone how dangerous an intense fire can be. Check out this, the twelfth the Callaways series and all of Barbara Freethy's work

Book Description

Unreachable. Dell Rosales gained her nickname, "inalcansable," or "unreachable,'" the old-fashioned way, earning it with every new rip in her heart.
Unwanted. Dell returns home to salvage her father's ranch by opening the place to a group of girls with problems and pain not unlike her own. With her outlook on love soured - perhaps beyond salvation - she clings to Becky, the tiny little girl whose own mother preferred a life of drugs and men to motherhood.
Unwinnable. Former DEA agent Jovani Treviño has seen that the war isn't winnable: people keep dying. Drugs keep killing them. But pleas for help from the DEA make him agree to one last battle for the good cause - checking out heiress Dell Rosales, whose ranch on the Rio Grande provides a perfect spot for traffickers to cross if she allows them to.
Unattainable. Suspicions, passion, and their respective pasts draw Dell and Jovi into a tumultuous relationship that both must avoid. Love seems distant, foolish to seek - unattainable. When an epic flood threatens not only Dell's ranch but the surrounding area, will anything survive?
Sensuality Level: Behind Closed Doors

5.0 out of 5 stars Tasty Sweet Romance June 22, 2013
By Dottie
Format:Kindle Edition
Dell Rosales wants to believe she unattainable, unreachable, she doesn't need a man to make her happy or to prove her worth. She's a businesswomen, respected for her ability, not her family name. Her grandfather is the powerful force, a De Cordova, but she choose to ignore her heritage, choosing to be a Rosales. Her mother abandoned their small family, her father's love is all she's ever known. Then, Jovi Treviño walks into her life.

Jovi Treviño comes to the Rosales ranch, answering an ad for an experienced foreman. But, he has ulterior motives. His brothers at the DEA have asked him to investigate the Rosales ranch and Dell herself for involvement in drug trafficking activity. When he meets Dell, he understands why 'unattainable' has been attached to her name, but is she really? Almost upon their first encounter, sparks fly, and if Jovi isn't careful, he'll jeopardize the investigation and his fellow DEA agents because as wrong as he knows it is, his mind is occupied with nothing but thoughts of the unattainable woman.

Unattainable by Leslie Garcia is a riveting tale of love, suspicion, and trust. Jovi comes to Dell in the form of a lie, but after he meets her, he wants nothing more than to carry her off to his bed. But, he can't, if he sleeps with her under the guise of the foreman, he knows she'll never forgive him. But, if he tells her the truth, she may never trust him again. Dell has her own problems, she's opened her home to troubled girls, and they've turned into a handful. But, Jovi has gotten under her skin like no man has gotten before, not even Jeremy, her troubled one time fiancee. She's been burned a few too many times to take love at it's face value. Can she love Jovi? Should she?

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Love Story June 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Unattainable, a romance novel that kept me glued to my i-device! Besides being a love story, Unattainable depicts the Hispanic culture in South Texas and clearly emphasizes our language variations. Being a graduate student in a Bilingual Education program, I could not miss the opportunity to present Mrs. Garcia's work to my Linguistics Professor and classmates. The love story of Dell Rosales and Jovanni Trevino captivates readers as the story unveils the mystery surrounding their relationship.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! April 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
In a word, fabulous! From start to finish this book kept me riveted, caring and hoping - for all involved - and that is because of the tenderness and caring with which Ms. Garcia molded her characters and their storyline. Dell and Jovi each have their strengths and concerns, and both come to the first chapter with baggage, but thankfully, neither is crippled by their past - they've learned from it and moved on - refreshing! Their respect for one another, and for everyone they deal with, rings true and bright and should be honored. This book is just plain delightful, sexy, and heartwarming, and gives me hope that there are still people out there like Dell and Jovi. Very well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars A lovely journey April 1, 2013
By Jean B
Format:Kindle Edition
Unattainable is a lovely journey, not only the story of two hearts separated by duty and honor but of an extended family related not by blood but by the heart. It takes place in a part of the country that too often gets a bad rap due to horrifying violence perpetrated on both sides of the border, and credit goes to Ms. Garcia's talent that we are able to see what is beautiful about the people, the culture and even the landscape. She tackles difficult issues with grace, and gives us an emotionally resonant story on many levels, not the least of which is how hard Jovi and Dell must fight for their love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this book! March 3, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
In Unattainable, Ms. Garcia writes of true, selfless love, not the "fairy tale" type of love. The heroine, Dell Rosales, returns home to take over her deceased father's horse ranch in Laredo, Texas on the border between Texas and Mexico. She is estranged from her wealthy mother and her mother's family who are trying to control her and the ranch. Dell has a heart as big as Texas and opens her ranch to several troubled teenage girls who have been in and out of trouble of all kinds, hoping she can help them to turn their lives around. She also is a foster parent to Becky, a precious toddler taken away from her drug addicted mother. Dell loves Becky and hopes to be able to adopt her.

Since the only thing separating the ranch from Mexico, is the Rio Grande River which drug smugglers and coyotes bringing illegal immigrants across use for their own dark purposes. This brings in the hero, Jovani Trevino. Jovani, or Jovi as he is called, is a former Drug Enforcement Agent. Dell hires him to take care of the horses not knowing he is there undercover to prove whether or not she is involved in drug smuggling.

Dell and Jovi's mutual admiration for each other becomes friendship which turns to deeper feelings. But because Jovi must prove she is not involved with drug smuggling, he holds back the truth about himself and his true feelings. Dell has been crushed in the past by people who claimed to love her so she tries to hold back her growing affection for Jovi. When Dell is attacked and injured, Jovi can no longer hide his purpose for being there or his feelings. In time, he and Dell get their "happily ever after" and Dell is able to adopt Becky.

Ms. Garcia did a fantastic job of bringing out deep emotions of all kinds through the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read
I enjoyed the story very much, and even more so that it was sans torrid sex scenes. It is nice to find love stories again that don't rely on that and have a good story. Thanks

More About the Author

Mention writing to most first grade students--or teachers--and everyone runs from the room, screaming or crying, respectively. I, however, love the challenge of convincing the technology kids of today that words create everything they use, everything they enjoy. Yes, even those horrible cartoons and video games that are so foreign to me now. And the songs.

I, myself, was a published writer in first grade, first by the school principal, then by a novel but short-lived magazine written entirely by kids. I still remember the title: Kids. Paid me $1.50 for the last rhyming poem I ever wrote. "Dolphins are nice though they don't like ice" something something.

Luckily, my poetry no longer rhymes, and my stories strive to portray the mishmash of cultures, events, characters, and times that are our lives--all our lives, even if not everyone had a lion or a roadside amusement park or hid in an arroyo on their wedding day.

There's a circuitous route through most of our lives, and the publishing company that helped me learn to submit work for publication through their magazines and annual Writers Market, F&W Media, is now publishing my debut novel with Crimson Romance.

A lifetime of words away from first grade, but hopefully, you'll enjoy my words. I love hearing from readers, and hope you'll visit me one of these days.

Because words still have power, and always will.
