Oddly named title, but worth checking into!, December 17, 2007
This review is from: Unbalance Unbalance Volume 1 (v. 1) (Paperback)
I almost didn't get this, due to having lost a lot of interest in manga and anime in the last couple of years. However, something about the front cover, combined with the description, intrigued me. So, I took a chance and got the first volume. And I was not disappointed in the least.(Strike that - my only disappointment was that I'm so early on in the series and will have to wait to watch it all unfold.)
You'd almost expect a ton of fanservice, going by the cover - but that's not the focus of things. Yes, the females in it are attractive - but so are most women, if you look at them with the right frame of mind. So this story definitely isn't just some mindless 'pretty-girl ends up with guy' fluff.
The characters come across quite believably, which is a good accomplishment for the first volume(budding writers take note: make your characters at least 75% realistic. Anything less is wasting everyone's time.)
End result: Unbalance Unbalance is definitely worth plunking down your change for, unlike the vast majority of titles that have saturated the market. Give it a shot, you should really enjoy it.

A really good romance manwha, May 18, 2009
This review is from: Unbalance Unbalance Volume 1 (v. 1) (Paperback)
This was the very first Korean Manga i read. I love the genre of romance comedy. This is more drama romance bt is still very very good.
The reproduction value of the art itself and the translation is really excellent. The main character and the teacher love interest angle is very interesting. The protogonist is likeable which is almost an exception where manga usually has a worthless main character who is either a jerk, or a loser. The character here states his feelings with passion and feeling and trys to stick by his beliefs. He is stubborn. But again a very human and likeable and believable character and not just a stand in doppelganger for the reader.
The only problem i see with this series is The publisher recently seems to go completely out printed comics to shipping them on disc. Plus the series lapsed here in the united states after volume 2. There are currently 9 volumes and the series is on hiatus at the moment. I really hope the author finished the story. But i cannot read korean and i really don't like supporting illegal fan translations when i want to support the author and the manga community.
What can i do besides buy copies for myself and friends and tell the American Publisher just how much i love the series.

Intresting mixture..., March 16, 2009
This review is from: Unbalance Unbalance Volume 1 (v. 1) (Paperback)
Teacher and student meet. Teacher and student fall in love. Teacher and student have a happy ending. Not really. This series starts out with the two main characters REALLY disliking each other. Hae-Young is a tall, shapely woman who distrusts men and happens to be very serious when it comes to being a teacher. Jin-Ho is her student who seems to have only one thing on his mind - film. He does not even notice her beauty unless he is accidently running into the women's restroom or grabbing her from behind. No, really, that was an accident also. Jin-Ho does not even notice that his hot female fellow student has the hots for him. He steals, sure, watches films banned in Japan, but he is not the normal geek or pervert of most manga series. He has the teacher drunk and passed out on her bed and what does he do? He walks away to look at camera equipment! He has bad grades, no interest in girls and seems willing to just float about in life. Of course the fact he even skips classes pisses off Hae-Young even more!
The artwork is equal to some of the best pin-up artwork you can get in US or in Europe. Every woman in this manga looks like she will fall over at any second. Maybe that is where they got the title from?
I may continue to read the series, just to see how the two fall in love. Or will they? There is nothing to suggest, at this point, that they will link up. Warning, there are some adult scenes which kids should not see. It says 13 and up, but I would go as far as to say 16 or up.
