5.0 out of 5 stars I don't know what to do with myself, June 26, 2008
This album is surprisingly amazing. In no way does the lack of more tracks take away from the utter brutality and awesome might of Unblessing the Purity. Yes, it's only four tracks and yes you'll be left yearning for more but the tracks are really thick. I've listened to the album many times and I'm still catching small bits here and there. I've had it on constant repeat in my car for 2 days straight. This is a must buy album for the genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Is it really worth the 4 tracks?, June 10, 2008
Yes! This album is amazing. If you like Bloodbath, then hurry up and get this Album! I would highly recommend getting the CD though instead of downloading it, but if it's the only way you can get it, then get it! This CD is sick! You will not be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brutal as HELL!, March 21, 2008
If you have the ninety nine cents on hand get the song "sick salvation".If you like Morbid Angel or Deicide you will love Bloodbath! This mini mp3 EP will satisfy any extreme death metal fan. I mean come on, Mike from Opeth is back on vocal duties again! Bloodbath is truly a DM super group members of KATATONIA are in it too.
These tracks are filled with creepy solos and blasphemous beats pick this up if you are into sick sh×t.

I think I've had Bloodbath's "The Fathomless Mastery" on rotation since I purchased it over a year ago. It's inspiring, brutal, heavy, slow and sludgy at times, and I can tell this band doesn't take themselves too seriously considering some of the song titles. I must have overlooked this EP as one of their older non-Mikael Akerfeldt led efforts (Bloodbath without Akerfeldt's vocals just doesn't appeal to me) but was very happy to find four more brutal tracks from one of my favorite metal bands. This album will probably be in my listening rotation for some time to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Death Metal done right..., June 20, 2009

This review is from: Unblessing the Purity (Audio CD)
This c.d. is next to impossible to get in the U.S. for some retarded reason. When I finally got my bloody hands on it & played it I was more than pleased! That it is only an e.p. is sad... if it was full length it would be one of the greatest death metal cds ever... If you put Breeding Death & Unblessing the Purity together now that is top 5 best D.M.. Mikael's vokills are the best I've ever heard (yes, even better d.m. tham Opeth!). Get this now & scare everyone w/in earshot!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ahhhh Mom, Can't We Unbless a Little Longer?, April 2, 2008

If anything, Swedish supergroup Bloodbath has been the barometer of death metal. Their first EP, Breeding Death, and full length, Resurrection Through Carnage displayed an appreciation towards the early 90's sounds of Dismember and Entombed. While 2005's follow-up Nightmares Made Flesh (with Hypocrisy's Peter Tagtgren) showed a knack for the later 90's death metal sounds of Kataklysm and Cannibal Corpse (not to mention the deliciously tasty track "Eaten") Bloodbath has returned again with the EP Unblessing the Purity. This reviewer's only complaint: It should've been longer!

Before even listening to the album, one has to notice the brilliant artwork that accompanies the EP. It just lets you know that what you're about to hear could cause mental problems. Musically, one had to figure with the absence of guitarist Dan Swano, some of those Swedish melodies and catchy songwriting would trail off. Granted, this is not one of the group's catchiest efforts, but this also makes for one of better qualities of Unblessing the Purity. What one will find on this EP is a noisy and unrelenting sound the most have to come to expect from Deicide or Origin. The opening track, "Blasting the Virginborn" fades into death metal delight with returning vocalist Mikael Akerfeldt spouting off a defining death metal performance that puts him right with George Fisher and Dallas Toler Wade.

I would hate to go track by track on an album that should catch you by surprise. Like previously mentioned, the only downfall to Unblessing the Purity is that it is too short. Another slight note worth mentioning is the guitar production. The guitar chords at times are indiscernible because the mix is too high. Overall, I think it collaborates with the mood that the band wanted to evoke.
