Book Description

Girl gone wild…

College is supposed to be a time of discovery, but Danielle Vaughn never imaged it would be like this: heightened senses, supernatural powers, and a sudden craving for human blood. Dani is a demi-vamp, the daughter of a human psychic and a vampire noble, a living secret kept hidden for twenty-one years.

As Dani’s heritage manifests itself, her thirst for blood is matched only by her hunger for Chase Diedrick. But as the son of the Vampire Council’s most powerful ruling family, Chase is already promised to another. Dani saw Council politics destroy her mother’s life; she won’t let the same thing happen to her. Besides, there’s no shortage of men who are eager to satisfy her every need, including the alluring vampire Kayden.

Unfortunately, Dani also has no shortage of enemies. Her heightened powers of telepathy and telekinesis attract the attention of a rogue vamp who preys on gifted vampires, absorbing their skills along with their lifeblood. Now, Dani must seek the Council’s help to quickly master her new vampire life…or risk losing it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like no other! February 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I picked this story up on amazon, after following a link on facebook. It was free so I figured 'Why not?' By the time I was a quarter of the way through, I knew this was a series that I'd never forget! I read a LOT! I'm talking a solid 4-5 novels per week and that's a lot considering my role as wife, full-time mother to three children and a working nurse. This story is like no other I've ever read! Sure, Ive fallen head over heals in love with many a paranormal romance before... but this is something entirely different! It's like reading ten novels in one! Many stories have what would ultimately be the perfect love story except for all those pesky dilemmas and problems that come up at the half way mark. Then, you're left reading just to see how said conflict is resolved so that the characters can finally have their happily ever after. Cat Miller went against the grain on this one and knocked it out of the park! Just as I'm being drawn into one story-line with our main character Dani, the scenery changes and I cant wrap my mind around it and it's sheer awesomeness! Yes, this book has me speaking like a teenager but believe me, it is for anything but! Our characters are not only dealing with the drama of a long hidden secret of vampirism, secret societies, love triangles (or whatever the word for a six-way love triangle is), society class structures, but they also have what's likely the hardest of all to deal with... growing up, coming into the adult world of serious commitments, college, the loss of innocence (virginity included) and everything else that comes with the transition into adulthood. I'm especially fond of the way the author allows the characters to "play the field". Read more ›

5.0 out of 5 stars Boundlessly fun to read. :) April 25, 2012
By Bonnie
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
"Unbound" kept me from getting sleep and doing laundry. I simply couldn't put it down. I immediately adored Danielle and felt like I was right there with her every step of the way as she discovered college, love, and a deep, dark family secret. She's a sympathetic character whose company you will enjoy keeping throughout the book. Danielle will never let you down, even though she never stops questioning herself, her beliefs, and her choices. This causes her pain, surprise, and sometimes even bliss. She's strong beyond her wildest dreams, and with that new-found strength comes accountability she never bargained for, and may not survive. The love connection between Danielle and Chase is simultaneously agonizing and amazing. You won't want to miss it.

Unbound is not a book you set aside easily; there is never a dull moment, a useless scene, or a single plot-blah. The story tackles issues like prejudice, hierarchies, and trying to fit in when you don't belong anywhere. It's about vampires, but it's also about the moments in our own lives when we felt vulnerable, alone, and maybe even a little "freakish".

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time December 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I hate giving negative reviews, but this novel annoyed me. There were frequent grammatical errors that the author should have been able to catch if she didn't want to invest in an editor. Microsoft Word should have picked up several of them. Cat Miller constantly switched the point of view, mixed her pronouns and never explained who was speaking until several sentences into the dialog. She switched between past and present events without warning and rarely bothered to describe the setting of any of the scenes.

Worse than the grammatical errors was the ridiculous plot. I couldn't tell if this was supposed to be a romance novel because despite the well-documented sex scenes and love the characters claimed to have for each other the heroine fell in love with an endless train of men, several of them at the same. Most of the novel revolved around Danielle running back and forth into the arms of different men while at the same time feeling hurt and betrayed by them.

The bad guy was never revealed, just a bunch of henchmen out do do their master's dirty work. Each of them were killed or even ignored instead of questioned. Perhaps Cat Miller thought this would build mystery and dramatic tension, but it didn't work. The evil plan was never explained except in vague references to someone long ago that tried to steal vampire abilities. For what, mere power? World dominance? To get more sex? He's just some power-hungry enigma.

This could have been a wonderful story about a young vampire discovering herself and uncovering family secrets while falling in love. Instead it bounced around from the past to the present, from perspective to perspective, and into the beds of several men until I lost respect for all of the main characters and didn't care what happened to them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected March 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I downloaded this book on Valentine day when some authors made their books free. I finally got around to read it. To my surprise, I enjoyed it. It reminds me of Twilight a little bit, but with a big twist. I'm definitely purchasing the rest of the books in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lost myself in their world February 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Have you ever picked up a book and completely lost yourself into the story? That is exactly what happened to me when I began The Forbidden Bond Series. From the moment I picked up this series my real life faded away and my world became about Dani, her mom Tessa, and the countless hotties vying for Dani's affection. I became obsessed on what would happen next. Sometimes I'll pick up a book and it starts off slow and builds up to the drama, not with this book. It was gangbusters from the very beginning.

For my review, I won't go into the story synopsis since you can read it in the product page. But I will tell you why I gave it 5 stars. Simply put, I could not put it down. I immediately became invested in each of the characters from the beginning starting with Tessa (Dani's mom). I related to her as a mother. In essence, she fell in love and the guy that she fell in love with is a piece of work. Tessa is human and humans are considered below Vampires in the social food chain. Tessa falls in love with Griffin. Griffin is from an elite vampire family. He is expected to marry one and form a blood bond of his own arranged by his family. But Griffin goes behind his family's back and secretly mates with Tessa who is carrying his child. What happens? Griffin thinks she is dead, turns his back on Tessa, turns his back on his first family, and begins again. I am purposely leaving out important parts of the story because you have to read it for yourself. And when you do - hopefully you'll agree with me that Griffin is a total whining douchebag and that Tessa can do better. I digress, the story is mainly about Dani but I just love Tessa so much I had to get that part into the review.

This story had me feeling extreme emotions and at times feeling raw.

More About the Author

I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and now I live not far from my birth place in Perry Hall, Maryland. I have two teenage daughters and a man that keep me busy when I'm not working full-time as a Certified Medical Coder. I'm an avid reader and I love all genre of romantic fiction from historical to contemporary to paranormal. Sleeping has always been a problem for me so most nights I can be found in the living room reading or writing instead of in bed like the rest of the world. I don't watch television. It's not a conscious decision, it just never occurs to me to turn it on when I have books to read and writing to do. It can actually be a hazard, because I never know what the weather will be until I look outside and I have to rely on my kids and coworkers for local and world news. I love creating the characters you love and love to hate. My characters remind me of people I know and people I wish I had never known.
