5.0 out of 5 stars Back from the right side of my mind on LSD
This is hardcore punk at it's finest. Some people forget in this ultra-lame politically correct day and age that punk rock was about having a good time way back when. The Angry Samoans will please fans of old L.A. punk like Adolescents, Circle Jerks, and Black Flag. Come on, look at the song titles! How can a song called "They Saved Hitler's C--k" not be good...

3.0 out of 5 stars Confirms that they really only needed ONE rerelease
I had 2 Angry Samoans records--Back from Samoa and STP Not LSD, and I had always favored the first over the second. _STP Not LSD_ actually fell to the near-bottom of my pile after a while, because I wouldn't pull it out to play or even use it for mix tapes.

And this 'unboxed set,' though very witty as a concept, just confirmed for me that Back...

How can a song called "They Saved Hitler's C--k" not be good? Ha ha ha! The Samoans take it to the extreme (excuse the cliche) on 40+ songs that absolutely rock. If songs like "Lights Out", "Electrocution", or "Right Side Of My Mind" don't move you, maybe you should check your pulse! Anyone slagging this kind of stuff is probably about as intestering as the gravel in my driveway.

5.0 out of 5 stars All the Samoans you ever need, May 5, 2005

There's nothing more you can leave behind
So forget about seeing, get into your mind
Everything looks better when the world is black
Grab a fork, make the first attack
Lights out!
Poke poke, poke your eyes out
Lights out!

If Hitler's c*ck could start to talk, it would say: To kill today. If Hitler's c*ck could choose it's mate, it would ask, for Sharon Tate!

If you like ridiculous toilet humor punk rock that takes no prisoners and thumbs its nose at propriety and political correctness, this is for you. Personally I like the nihilistic attitude of the Angry Samoans a lot more than the self righteous musings of a band like Seven Seconds or even the Clash. Although the musicianship is pretty crappy, and the sound is thin, the crazyness and up yours attitude of the Samoans more than makes up for sonic shortcomings. This is Punk rock when punk rock wasn't cool and people in shopping malls hated it. It's power to annoy those bleeding heart politically correct and humorless drones on the left and those self-righteous cornfed hypocrites on the right remains as strong today as when this poop first plopped into the bowl. Two middle fingers up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant Surprise, October 16, 2005
This review is from: Unboxed Set (Audio CD)
Good disc that spans their career as a band. More or less a discography I assume. The sound ranges between garage rock and early 80s Hardcore Punk. I'm even surprised at how musical some of the songs are. Dig it!

5.0 out of 5 stars great obnoxious old school punk (not emo hippies), January 8, 1999

this stuff rocks - i for one prefer to enjoy music, not 'analyze the message'. if you need a message, go to church. if you wanna be socially concious - vote. BUT if you wanna ROCK - buy this. this is the real stuff - if johnny come lately hippy 'punks' don't like - that's cos they have *no* clue of what real punk is... make that was... it's not 'nice' it's not pc and it certainly does not have a msg other than venting frustration. buy it and like it!

I had 2 Angry Samoans records--Back from Samoa and STP Not LSD, and I had always favored the first over the second. _STP Not LSD_ actually fell to the near-bottom of my pile after a while, because I wouldn't pull it out to play or even use it for mix tapes.

And this 'unboxed set,' though very witty as a concept, just confirmed for me that Back from Samoa is by far their best work. All of their best elements are at play--nasty humor, abrasive attitude and that grand desire to tick-off undesirable elements. From the chilling call to violence with their classic "Lights Out" to the toilet humor and direct offensiveness of "They Saved Hitler's C*ck," to the wonderful simplicity of anger with "My Old Man's a Fatso" (a better version than the one found on Inside My Brain), Angry Samoans were clearly hoping to ruffle feathers. The recording too was sharper and the playing tighter.

But the other releases included (and, let's face it, always the ingrained downfall of complete rather than selective rereleases) have only spotty successes and are overall rather bland. By the time they got around to putting out Yesterday Started Tomorrow, Angry Samoans were just no longer angry--maybe at each other, but not in an interesting way, and the last two releases kind of showed me that they really were over at that point.

So my advice would be to get the one hot album all on its own and relish in good Samoans. That they couldn't keep their own fuel going shouldn't matter to you anymore. Just grab your fork and make the first attack.

Angry Samoans are great... and now all the greatness of "Inside My Head" and "Back From Samao" is boiled down to this, "The Unboxed Set." Take a look. There's nothing good missing here.

5.0 out of 5 stars A career-spanning record from one of the the stupidest, most important punk bands ever., June 18, 2006
This review is from: Unboxed Set (Audio CD)
This is a record truly worthy of five stars. Every song is catchy, anthemic, and hilarious. "My Old Man's A Fatso" and "Lights Out" are worth the price of admission alone, but there are a ton of tracks here. Really "The Unboxed Set" will take care of any Angry Samoans need you could possibly have in just one record. That's value folks. If Hitler's cock could talk, it would tell you to buy this record.

This review is from: Unboxed Set (Audio CD)
I'll I have to say is these guys are the best punk band ever. The songs are tasteless,Unintelligent and Politically incorrect and thats simply why they rock. If your Children are fans of Green Day,Sum 41 or Good Charlotte, get them this and let them know what real punk is. You customers send a reply and tell me what your favorite punk band is and I would still prefer THE ANGRY SAMOANS!!!
