This contemporary cowboy book is my favorite contemporary western of all time!, July 6, 2010

Unbridled by Beth Williamson Historical Romance - July 6th, 2010 5 Stars This contemporary cowboy book is my favorite contemporary western of all time! It's just a phenomenal story with amazing characters. I especially like the smartass comments that come out of Alex's mouth. She is such a strong, vibrant character. Alex Finley finds herself back where she grew up in a small town in Wyoming where she never felt she belonged. Her father, left her part of an estate and she has come to claim it. But this means airing out her suppressed emotions about the father who abandoned her and her dying mother for another woman. Unfortunately, her father is no longer alive for her to work it out with. Instead, she meets Connor Matthews, who is running her father's resort. Unlike her, Connor admired the old man and all that he stood for. Of course, there are two sides to every story, and he is curious to hear get to know Alex and hear her out. After all, Alex is great with his horses, and Connor can tell a lot about a woman from the way she treats his horses. Connor's passion for Alex is really enduring to read about and the pages sizzle up as the undeniable romance between them grows. There are challenges, but from page one. I could tell that this story was more of a romance than a suspense novel. The suspense was surprising twist at the end, but it only solidifies the love story. I was in tears when Connor puts into words how he feels. Throughout the novels, his actions speak louder than words, but to hear the words coming from him was so emotional. I REALLY loved this book and it is up there with my all time favorites such as Mackenzie's Mountain by Linda Howard. I hope Beth Williamson continues to write heartwarming, sexy love stories about cowboys. Reviewed by Sophia from the Bookaholics Romance Book Club

Unbridled, November 1, 2010
This review is from: Unbridled (Paperback)
Ten years ago Alex Finley left her father and home in the dust and she has never looked back. Until now. Alex's best friend has died, leaving her nowhere to go. His family believes the worst about Alex and she lets them. Because of this, Alex sets off for her hometown and her father's ranch only to find out that it is now a resort. Alex decides to drown her sorrow and hopefully hook-up with the suave and sexy cowboy she just met - Connor Matthews. Alex has no idea her one night stand is the manager of what used to be her family's ranch. But she finds out and that is when the fireworks start. Beth Williamson's Unbridled has an excellent and textbook Western storyline and great characters, except for Alex. I found Alex, the heroine, selfish and immature. She was stubborn and hateful and more than once I caught myself hoping that Connor would drop her like a cow patty! Connor, on the other hand, was exactly the type of hero I love. His sexy body and almost never ending patience with Alex and her attitude totally won me over. I admit to being hard on heroines - almost too hard - but mean-spirited and heroines who don't listen make me crazy. Unbridled is definitely a Beth Williamson erotic western romance! Despite my dislike of Alex, Unbridled turned out to be entertaining and arousingly hot! In all honesty, I am not sure "I" will read Unbridled again, but I have confidence that Unbridled will be well received if readers can get around Alex and her hang ups. 4.0 out of 5 stars
heated ranch romance, July 10, 2010
This review is from: Unbridled (Paperback)
With the death of her beloved David who as a sexagenarian was twice her age, Alex Finley knows it is time to go home. David's family wants her to leave anyway as they assume she is a gold-digger even though ironically she only took the car he gave her with her. Alex leaves California heading to her family ranch in Wyoming; a place she left a decade ago following the death of her beloved mother and her anger at her cheating late father who left his cancer stricken wife and daughter. She learns you can never go home as the spread she remembers is now a dude ranch run by Connor Matthews and her father has been dead for two years. He expects the returning prodigal daughter to challenge her deceased father's will; as she loathes her stepmother and tolerates her stepbrother Daniel; neither of whom she never knew existed before now. However, as she and Connor fall in lust and love, he fears she will sell her interest in the Finley Ranch before fleeing Wyoming again. This heated ranch romance is filled with angst and lust though the past is too underdeveloped to appreciate what fully led to the estrangement in which a teenage girl was able to fall off the grid. Ergo, the audience only obtains Alex's perspective until the very end, which detracts from what otherwise could have been a powerful character driven tale. Still the cast is solid and the sex hot as Beth Williamson proves you can go home if the heart is willing. Harriet Klausner
