First of all, I would like to extend a heartfelt "Thank you" to Loree Lough and his/her publisher for sending me a copy of "Unbridled Hope" to review for them. I am truly grateful for this generosity. I really appreciate the time, effort and expense it takes to make a reviewer copy available to me.

Loree Lough's "Unbridled Hope" is the charming tale of two people who are assuming more responsibility than they should. Carrie is a woman who feels responsible for the deaths of her loved ones in an explosion as well as the deafness suffered by her younger brother in the same accident. She also bears a disfiguring scar from that fateful evening. She is a loving Christian woman who feels that she doesn't deserve to find happiness after causing the accident that took the lives of her fiancé and other family members.

Micah is a handsome Christian man who travels to San Antonio on business and comes home with a wagon full of seed and a baby! He believes he owes it to his cousin, Dan, to find out of Reid's mother's story is true before he tells his cousin that he is a father.

The crushes they have on each other are tying their hearts together, but Carrie doesn't believe she deserves the love of a good man like Micah, and Micah refuses to make his intentions known to Carrie until his investigation on the Reid's mother is complete. This beautifully written story is an entertaining read about sweet people that will pluck your heart strings.

Format: Paperback
1889 Eagle Pass, TX, finds Callie struggling with her sewing shop that supports her and deaf brother, his hearing and all their family's lives a casuality of Callie's wrong decision 2 years past. In the meantime, another plot development occurs when one of the Neville cousins, Micah, of the Lazy N Ranch, intercepts a letter and puts himself in the lead to not only save the ranch from financial ruin, but also save his cousin Dan's marriage (Dan's story you will recall if you read book 2, `Maverick Heart' prior.) Many former Neville family members return, but this book works as stand alone if need be thanks to excellent writing by Loree Lough. But it is because of her writing, you really need to read all 3 books in order. Another former Neville, Micah's sister, has her own struggle with grief and moving on. A Pinkerton Agent, former Texas Ranger in book 1, `Beautiful Bandit', also has decisions to make and a past worth remembering.

Loree Lough masterfully rolls together multiple plots and twists that eventually halt together like dusty whirlwinds and tumbleweeds all reaching the saloon's swinging doors at the same time. `Unbridled Hope' is adventurous western historical drama and romance, with action included to appeal to men and women alike. `Recon that there's why Loree Lough's books keep sellin' and sellin'. Her historical stories never get outdated since they are about America's past, and told in a way it grips with reality. After finishing a series by Loree Lough, her characters feel like family, kissin' cousins in this instance.

UNBRIDLED HOPE follows the haunted life of Callie Roberts. Blaming herself for the steamboat explosion that took the life of her parents and older brother, her life's mission is to devote herself to Jonah, her surviving brother, who was deafened in the horrible blast. Setting up a seamstress business in Eagle Pass, Callie is thankful for the life she can provide for her brother.

Micah Neville, is quite the protector himself. When he intercepts a letter for his cousin Dan-that is sure to lead to heartache- he decides it is up to him to protect Dan. When he comes back to Eagle Pass with an infant, the town is shocked. But, Micah is willing to put his reputation on the line in order to protect the possible indiscretion of his cousin.

When Callie offers to watch the infant, Reid, Micah is not only grateful but smitten. Callie falls in love with Reid and soon finds herself in love with Micah as well, but with both Micah and Callie holding onto secrets, they hide their love for each other, judging themselves unworthy of the others affection.

I have enjoyed the entire Lone Star Legends series from Loree Lough. Each story focused on one from the Neville clan. UNBRIDLED HOPE was a bit slow on the uptake but the story was quite unique. I get a little frustrated with books where the hero or heroine are so self-deprecating, that they feel they have no right to happiness. UNBRIDLED HOPE teetered on the edge for me, but in the end, it was worth that bit of frustration. The second half of the book picked up in speed and even if the ending was predictable, it was still satisfying.

After Callie Roberts' parents are killed in a steamboat explosion, she is left to raise her younger brother, Josh. Carrying guilt and a physical scar over the explosion which left Josh deaf, Callie opens a ladies' dress shop to provide for them. Callie's sweet personality shines through, but she's always conscious of the scar she tries to hide in her hairline.

Attracted to rancher Micah Neville, Callie can't say no when he asks her to care for a baby boy whose parentage is a mystery. Could Micah be the child's father? If not, who is he protecting? Callie's attraction to Micah grows, but he will not tell her anything related to the baby he's put in her care. She bonds with the child as if it were her own and loves Micah, too. To give either up would break her heart.

Micah has fallen in love with Callie, but it's not fair to her for him to carry their relationship to another level until he settles the mystery surrounding the baby's parentage.

As all Loree Lough stories, I found myself caught up in the true-to-life characters, rooted for them and worried about their welfare. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, the plot, characters, and setting.

Also, I have a soft spot for handsome cowboys. This book will not disappoint.
