The Content Matters,
This review is from: The Unbridled World Of Ernie Fletcher: Reflections on Kentucky's Governor (Hardcover)
Unlike the vast majority of commentators, Don McNay is entertaining but is NOT trying to be an entertainer. He writes with intelligence and integrity, and it is clear that the content comes first and everything else supports the content, making it more interesting and impactful. Even here, outside of Kentucky, the book is a great read ... and I look forward to the next one!

McNay's Book Gives a Fresh Look at Ky. Politics,
By Jonathan Moore (Lexington, KY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Unbridled World Of Ernie Fletcher: Reflections on Kentucky's Governor (Hardcover)
Don McNay is a hard-hitting journalist, and his new book demonstrates his knack for uncovering news stories that have been ignored by mainstream media outlets. This book focuses on not just Governor Fletcher, but rather Kentucky as a whole and what changes need to be brought about on a statewide political level. I reccomend this book: Mr. McNay offers keen insights into Frankfort's political machine and always presents his work in a fun and accessible way.

If you read one book this year make it this one.
Don McNay does what all good Journalists should do. He makes those in charge accountable and helps his readers think about real issues. In his book, he covers the issues of the Kentucky Governor's first term, including the "Unbridled Sprit" re-branding campaign for Kentucky. He then looks forward to the issues that are important to the Commonwealth and our society as a whole. If you care about politics, society or just like a good read then get this book!

Politics as (Un)Usual,
By Michael Behler (Atlanta, GA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Unbridled World Of Ernie Fletcher: Reflections on Kentucky's Governor (Hardcover)
You don't have to live in Kentucky or be knowledgeable about Kentucky politics to enjoy the humor in this quick, easy read. McNay has a wide target in Gov. Fletcher, and he hits the bulls-eye every time. If you live in any jurisdiction with a clueless politician who tries to buck the system and ends up "bucking" himself, you will love this book.

This review is from: The Unbridled World Of Ernie Fletcher: Reflections on Kentucky's Governor (Hardcover)
I have been a fan of Don McNay's columns for the past year and was eager to read his foray in into an extended format. No surprise, this book captures the author's ability to combine style & substance, humor & insightfulness, charm & hard-edged political journalism.
The writer is so good I can't decide if I want to vote him for President or have his babies. In the vein of Mark Russell, Will Durst, and Bob Harris, Don McNay proves that you make people think and laugh on the same page. Kudos.

I am humbled and honored by the success of the book and the praise given to it.
Don McNay www.donmcnay.com Praise for Don McNay and The Unbridled World of Ernie Fletcher. "Thank goodness there are still journalists like Don McNay left in Kentucky and America: fearless, truthful, compelling and willing to take on powerful interests. He's what the First Amendment was all about two centuries back. Do yourself a favor and buy this book." John Eckberg, author of Road Dog; The Success Effect; and a business reporter at The Cincinnati Enquirer Don McNay came to journalism relatively late, but he quickly proved that he has some attributes of fine journalists -- a nose for news, a sense of justice, a capacity for outrage about injustice, a sympathy for the average person, a willingness to speak truth to power, and a sense of humor. -Al Cross, Director of the Institute for Rural Journalism and Community Issues, based at the University of Kentucky, and political writer for The Courier-Journal for 15 1/2 years. "The claimed accomplishments of a political leader can only be measured with good and accurate information and the consistent reports of Don McNay certainly provide that reliable news." -Governor Julian M. Carroll "In rapid time, Don McNay has emerged as a powerful voice for disempowered Kentuckians: men and women who work hard and play by the rules, but whose quest for a share of the American Dream is frustrated by corrupt politicians and special interests. May his voice continue to resonate." Jonathan Miller, Kentucky State Treasurer and author of The Compassionate Community: Ten Values to Unite America "Thank God the SOB wasn't writing back when I ran for office." -Rick Robinson, Fort Mitchell attorney, former congressional aide and former congressional candidate.

Don McNay is one of the smartest and wittiest political writers I've ever had the pleasure to read. He uses accessible language, so readers identify with him right away. And he definitely knows what he's talking about. If you're interested in Kentucky politics, this book is a must.
