This One Will Surprise You!,
This review is from: Uncharted (Hardcover)
As we begin this read we become familiar with the lives of six people who were college friends at one time, but now have parted to live their own lives.
One of these friends dies and the rest travel out of respect to his funeral. All have had a dream or vision of their departed friend before they knew he had died. Why? What did this mean? Was it a warning and will they heed his frantic cries? The answer will surprise you. It is somewhat difficult to review this work without revealing the shocking ending. I will say this; the remaining friends find themselves on an uncharted island after an accident. What they discover there about themselves and their lives will shake you up; cause you to rethink your own life and hopefully make some changes. This work has an outstanding storyline, great character development and quite an emotional ending. I give it a five star and a thumbs-up review. This is a wonderful book, not only a great read but one that has eternal heartstrings attached to it that you will remember for a long time to come. Don't miss this one.

Uncharted,
This review is from: Uncharted (Paperback)
The ending wasn't what I was expecting but it was interesting. I liked the way that she brought all of the characters together and I think that they were all developed. I think it is likely that everyone could find a bit of themselves in one of the characters and that makes the message more potent.

If you are not a avid Christian fiction reader and you're not looking for change in your life, then this book may not be for you.
WOW, Angela Hunt has done it again.......she is a beautiful story teller who always has a way of making you do a little bit of soul searching. I saw a lot of myself in her characters. As usual, I cried at the end when I realized how symbolic this book is and it should be a wake up call to everyone.

A Haunting Tale,
This review is from: Uncharted (Hardcover)
I picked up this book based on the review that compared it to Lost, Castaway and the Great Divorce among other things. On the basis of that review I was disapointed. The style of writing was different than what I expected it to be; however, on its own it is a great book.
After first reading the book I was going to rate it four stars because of a few flaws in the story. After a few weeks have gone by I have changed my review to a five star rating. This book has stuck with me and I find myself contemplating its messages and thinking through the story and how it impacts my life. As I belive this is exactly what the author intended this book to do I think it deserves a full five stars. I loved the set up of the book. Angela Hunt does a spectacular job at creating the characters and making them interesting. Once the action began it lost some of that flavor and I didn't enjoy it as much. It became too similar in tone to other stories about people on a deserted island as the masks the characters wore started to slip. The ending is haunting. That is what stuck with me all this time. It was not the shock other reviews proclaimed it to be. It's pretty easy to figure out if you are looking for a "surprise" ending. Knowing the ending doesn't detract from the book. It is the message in the ending that makes you think and evaluate your life. A book that is able to do that has done its job.

So far, I have enjoyed everything I've read by Angela Hunt. She hasn't disappointed me, yet! She makes all her charcaters so real, and her stories so intense that the reader actually feels like a part of the story.

A few weeks ago, a friend gave me several books but said, "Read this one first", and now I know why. What a page-turner! I had to force myself to put it down at times. It has been several weeks since I read this book but I continue to think about the storyline and the point the author was making. I have never read any of Angela Hunt's books, but I will be now! As another reviewer stated, I am also telling others about this book and will be buying several to give to some friends and family.

Not Skin Deep,
This review is from: Uncharted (Paperback)
This page turner is full of mirrors in the most unexpected places. I couldn't put it down. Angela Hunt deserves her best-selling status. She is a masterful storyteller and this book is one that shows her skill from start to finish. The twists, turns and excellent characterization are enough to recommend this book to anyone who loves a compelling read. However, the underlying spiritual themes are powerfully written, convicting and unsettling. Another reason to read it. After all, eternal destination is not worth leaving to chance. This is the first of Angela Hunt's adult novels that I've read. I will be reading more.

Sequel?,

Without a sequel, we're all on that island. Even Sarah. I'm a guy, and an avid reader of nonfiction shipwreck narratives. This book took me away from a considerable amount of my serious money-making time with talk about womanly relationships, conversations, and feeeelings. Still, I couldn't put it down. And I can't forget the unforgiving nature of its end. Surely there's a difference between Mark and those who tried successfully to overcome their evil thoughts. Gimme a sequel in which some are saved!

WOW!,
This review is from: Uncharted (Hardcover)
I just finished reading Uncharted! I'm so glad that I read it! It was very thought provoking and it really makes you take a good long look at yourself! There were some real shockers in it and it really was a page-turner! This is the first time that I've read something written Angela Hunt and I'm looking forward to picking up another one of her books now! I would definitely recommend this book! Infact I have my kids already reading it now!
